Story

*note: I still haven't quite figured out what Ashley's original hero mode story would even be, considering the fact that Splatoon 1 is the only Splatoon game I haven't actually played and I didn't get to play Splatoon 2 until 2020, so I'm probably not going to write much about Ashley in this bio until I figure something out for her*

Background info

Ashley was born in Calamari County, however her mother moved the family to a small town in Inkadia called Squid Valley Falls after Ashley's father, Astor Udai, was killed by Octarian soldiers while doing some work for the government (i.e. spying on the Octarians to make sure they weren't up to anything sketchy). Ashley had a close bond with her father, who'd often let her play with some of his equipment like drones and such when he wasn't doing any spying. Ashley may have been very young back then (like 4 years old), but she remembered the day that her family found out about her father's death. The death of her father hurt Ashley a lot and ever since that day she hoped nothing would end up happening to her new little sister, Hope. If someone was picking on Hope for whatever reason (the reason would typically revolve around Hope's small tentacle that wouldn't fill up with ink properly, which would cause her to have some difficulties with moving around), Ashley would be there to defend Hope, even by means of force if she had to (which sometimes happened). One day, Ashley found out about ink battles and hoped to one day participate in them herself. Once Ashley turned 14, she packed all her things up and went off to live in Inkopolis to live her dream of participating in ink battles.

Splatoon 2 (Bandana Genesis, AKA Hope's Story Mode Part 1 & 2)

Ashley simply serves as a mentor for Hope while she's on her crusades in Octopia, taking down the Octarians Against the Inkling Menace group. Nothing much to say here.

Splatoon 2 (Anyo Expansion, AKA Anyo's Octo Expansion)

Once again, Ashley doesn't serve that big of a role in Anyo's hero mode, at least until Hope and Ashley find Anyo about to be killed by Nori, to which, Ashley and Hope proceed to fight Nori in order to let Anyo find an escape. However, during the battle, Nori manages to get some sanitized ooze on Ashley, effectively brainwashing her into kidnapping Hope and subsequently going to hunt down Anyo. When Anyo makes it to the elevator to the surface, Ashley is waiting for her on a UFO with a tied up Hope. Hope calls out to Anyo to save Ashley, leading Ashley to fight Anyo. Soon enough, Ashley breaks free from the brainwashing and the three of them proceed to make their way out of the Deepsea Metro, only to have to face off Nori one last time. Hope and Ashley help Anyo destroy Nori's replica of NILS Statue and, after the fight, the three make their way back to Inkopolis Square.

Ashley tries out several different weapons to see what would best fit her in the future, eventually settling for the tri-stringer, at least for a while.

Biology

As a neon flying squid-type inkling, Ashley's hair and irises maintain a neon color (except for when Ashley uses a neutral, metallic, or pastel ink color; then Hope's hair takes on the exact color of that ink color) & Ashley has a higher jump than non-flying squid inklings. Also, due to an accidentway back when Ashley was still starting out in her ink battle carrer (she tried to go into humanoid form while she had the kraken special activated), Ashley's kraken form isn't a squid anymore; Ashley essentially turns into a smaller version of cthulu (she only becomes 7 feet tall while in cthulu form), which still allows her to have the same strength she'd normally have if her kraken form was still just a squid and allows her to be capable of some completely different maneuvers than what the average kraken user is capable of. It's still unknown what the long term effects of going into humanoid form while using the kraken special are since Ashley's one of the very few people who have ended up doing this and continued to do so afterwards.

Other info

• When she's not playing turf war or going on salmon runs, Ashley is an aspiring competitive motorcyclist, often going on races across the country and sometimes even competing in cities around the world.
• After the events of the Splatoon 1 final fest, Ashley became a bit distant from her old friends.
• Ashley's favorite bands are the Squid Sisters, Squid Squad/Front Roe, and Sashimori.
