Ryouji Atsui

Of all the things a member of a huge culinary-talented family could possibly be, the worst would be a prep cook. Ryouji Atsui is living that reality. There really isn’t much to say about his accomplishments, but his family truly holds a lot of culinary prowess - his mother owns a catering business, his uncle runs the family restaurant, and his aunt somehow holds a triple-Michelin-starred, campy horror-themed establishment. Ryouji? Chops vegetables. Whether he plans to someday shoot for greater ambitions within the family or strike out and do his own thing remains to be seen, but either way, he'll probably take on the task with his trademark lack of professionalism and confidence.

Before anyone asks, yes, Ryouji is well aware that he does not lead a glamorous existence, and yes, he is also somewhat disappointed in himself. He’s in this weird position of actually being quite good at what he does, but compared to everyone he knows, that isn't very good at all, so he pushes himself to achieve while accepting that he’ll never get there. Which isn’t to paint him as a particularly sad and tragic person, because to the best of his knowledge, he’s always doing pretty okay! At least, okay enough to maintain the casual, friendly irreverence he carries, so that’s good enough - even if he also refuses to examine his emotions any deeper than that. Ryouji may just be Some Guy, but he’s OUR Some Guy.
