snail was born and raised in [unspecified non-inkopolis location] to a wealthy family with a background in gear and weaponry (nouveau brand, specifically). she attended school normally and lived a relatively average early life. she never had any particularly close relations, as she was rather shy in school, her parents were far too busy, and her siblings were disinterested in her.

she learned to take pleasure in her own company. she found herself an interest in drawing -- specifically designing clothing and outfits, and collecting stuffed animals. having hobbies for herself, she didn't mind her solitude. she behaved well, and generally didn't make her presence very known, both at school and at home. still, some part in her couldn't help but wish for a friend.

the start of middle school was a chance for snail to make a change. she put in some effort grow out of her timidness and became more outgoing and loud as a result. as soon as they took notice, her siblings started teasing her for this. even though they could be awfully bullyish in their tendencies, her parents didn't do much of anything to put a stop to it.

in contrast to the sour turn that her home life had taken, she became somewhat popular at school, admired for her newfound friendliness and approachability. by now, she wasn't particularly interested in getting close to people, but the didn't turn down the admiration she was getting, especially since she wasn't recieving it anywhere else.

despite being rather well-liked, snail felt a little wrong about herself. something about her dreaded making actual friends beyond her many acquaintances, and her siblings' teasing wan't a huge morale booster, either. she became worried that she was using people for their kindness towards her and started to be more reclusive and distant once more out of this fear. she hadn't dropped her energetic attitude, but her conversations and appearances grew briefer and shallower.

as soon as she became old enough, she immediatlely started partaking in turf war with the help of her family name, she took a great liking to it, meeting mint and token through it. they played well together, and they quickly became friends. they didn't exactly click, but snail, once again, didn't turn down their presence as she didn't have much else.

snail's nervousness stuck with her through her teen years, and she'd gained a bit of a different reputation than she'd previously had. she was still liked to a degree, but she was becoming known more for her sudden shift into acting strange and anti-social. she tried to make sure the words didn't bother her much, but she began wishing that she wasn't as prominently known as she was.
