Basics
Mochi is a strange person with an eerie presence that tends to keep most people away. This is deepened even further by the fact that he lives in a haunted forest outside of the nearest city. Underneath the spooky air that he keeps, however, Mochi is a shy and mildly hedonistic lad who loves food, art, and videogames. His companions are six cats who all (except the youngest) have developed into bakeneko due to constant exposure to Mochi's energy.
The forest they live in is actually owned by Mochi, handed down to him from his grandparents, so the bakeneko sometimes wander the forest, contributing to the rumor that the forest is haunted. Their actual house is by the sea, separated from the water only by the gardens and a seaside grotto. There are multiple hot springs on the property, some in the grotto, and some next to the house itself. Mochi spends a lot of time in the hot spring outside of his room. Whenever he's not bathing or swimming, he's often creating visual art, writing, listening to music, and/or playing videogames. He heads to town somewhat frequently to enjoy the city's culinary treats or to go shopping for necessities, but this is less than half of the days of the week.
Though Mochi was born human, he was unwillingly involved in an experiment at the age of 18 that turned him into the moon spirit. The change has been difficult for him, and he's still largely unaware of most of his abilities, but he's managed to adjust over the years.
Character
Mochi is quiet and reclusive, preferring to keep to himself and his six cats. While he keeps up an eerie air about him to deter others from getting close, he does socialize slightly with the people who work at eateries where he's known as a regular, as well as with some friends he knows on the net. He's also known at art galleries and exhibitions, though he only talks to the organizers and never reveals himself as the artist. He would much rather walk around observing the other art while eating the venue's snacks or drinking a boba milk tea.
Despite his antisocial tendencies, Mochi is truthfully very kind and always polite to service workers, shop keepers, and any other people he has no choice but to interact with. Behind the eerie aura he exudes, he's really a very shy and gentle person. He keeps others away out of fear and insecurity, given that he's not exactly human anymore and he fears people finding out his true nature and rejecting him. If you do manage to get past his walls and gain his trust, Mochi is kind, considerate, and generous; often gifting his friends with food or trinkets he finds that he thinks they might like, perhaps even letting them visit his home in the haunted forest.
When he's not forced to interact with people or at home, where he is most often, Mochi is much more relaxed and strives to be happy and comfortable. He's a bit of a hedonist, loving all sorts of food and drink (non-alcoholic), as well as naps with his cats, bathing in the hot springs, creating art, and playing video games.
He's extremely averse to recalling his past. He prefers to leave it dead and buried, and bringing up memories of his youth make him strongly uncomfortable. Part of this is gender dysphoria he has yet to deal with, but most of it is the trauma of his disappearance and experimentation that turned him into what he is.

Notes
- Traits shift between lapine (bunny) & lupine (wolf).
- Hair/fur color can shift between black & white (usually black; never gray/does not shift as a gradient, but rather with a koi fish/calico cat pattern).
- Blood and inner flesh are dark teal, including inside his mouth.
- - He usually possesses a wide-eyed stare, with his visible eye seeming to faintly glow and stare into your soul. He has dark circles under his eyes due to poor health.
- Even when disguised as a human, he cannot hide his dark teal blood and inner flesh, and his horn always leaves a crystalline circle on his forehead that he cannot hide either.
- - The blue spider lily in his hair is alive and thriving from his own magic, growing out of his own skull. He always wears this.
- Nature blooms and dies in his footsteps. This is mostly plants, but mushrooms also grow in his footsteps, often bioluminescent.

Abilities
SOULSIGHT (Passive)
Mochi's right eye (which is hidden under his hair) sees beyond the physical world and is capable of perceiving souls and energy, even through walls. It doesn't act like normal ocular vision, as it can see from all angles and positions without turning, even behind him.
REGENERATION (Passive)
Mochi's body consistently regenerates to its natural state, including from injury, poison, and any other damage done to his body, cells, and DNA. However, because it only heals to his natural state, this means it does not heal his illnesses or prior conditions that affect his health. Despite this, he is capable of taking direct control of this ability to fortify his body temporarily, but the more exertion, energy, and time he expends, the harder he crashes afterwards. His regeneration abilities are actually so strong that he will even come back from death.
LUX-TENEBRAEMANCY
While Mochi doesn't have complete control over this and it's subject to his emotions, his most basic ability is the ability to control light and darkness. This doesn't just mean turning lights off and on though (which is covered in his technomancy ability), but rather he can actually manipulate the shape and range of light and darkness, as well as turn them into a tangible presence. This presence is able to physically interact with objects and people, and in a dire situation can even be used to attack, but given that Mochi is a pacifist this almost never happens.
AQUAMANCY
Although this is an ability he uses less often, Mochi actually has more control over this than most of his other abilities. To put it simply, Mochi can create and control water in all its forms. He has a natural affinity for water and actually feels better when in water, in addition to being able to breathe underwater as well. This means that time bathing in the hot springs around his home actually improve his health temporarily. Otherwise he mostly uses this ability for menial tasks such as making his own ice cubes or boiling water instantly.
TECHNOMANCY
Though he doesn't know why, Mochi has found himself with the ability to manipulate technology and its functions. He most commonly uses this to play video games without touching a controller or to navigate his laptop, but he's also capable of communicating with and even hacking into anything electrical. Simple tasks that require little brain power such as playing his games are things he can do with his spirit up to a certain distance away, but more complicated tasks require him to touch the machine.
AWAKENING
At times when Mochi's life is in danger, it's not uncommon for his soul to take charge of his body. Given that Mochi is a spirit inhabiting his human body, his soul is only in a semi-dormant state, meaning it can "wake up" and take direct control of his body if Mochi is in a state of great emotional and distress. It's still Mochi, but a more "raw" presence of him. Unlike Mochi's normal state however, in which he's only aware of a few of his abilities, "awakened" Mochi is aware of ALL of his abilities, and thus far more capable in a dire situation.

Trivia
- Mochi's favorite food is mochi, of course, but he also deeply enjoyes noodles, dumplings, rice, taiyaki and dango.
- In his medial form, the fur on the bottom of Mochi's feet tends to grow too long, so Mochi occasionally shaves the bottom of his feet just slightly, leaving enough fur for padding but helping his feet stay cleaner.
- While originally Mochi only owned one cat, the number gradually kept growing as he found other stray kittens without their mothers that needed a home.
- Mochi's cats are named JT, Smokey, Freckles, Reo, Pumpkin, and Coffee. JT is the only male cat out of the entire bunch, and Coffee is the only one yet to become a bakeneko.
- Although Mochi mostly listens to instrumental music such as game soundtracks, his two favorite bands are actually vocalists with very distinct styles.
- Mochi prefers RPGs over FPS games, but he's a sucker for farming sims.
Related
Resaajah [ Biological Father ]
Resaajah is Mochi's biological father, thus making him technically taepeh'notuu, but his death prior to his awakening has led to mixed spiritual growth. Resaajah met Mochi's mother while traveling the galaxy for the first time, and he fell in love. He stuck around for a while and raised Mochi until he was five years old, but Resaajah couldn't stay away from his kingdom forever, so the day after Mochi's fifth birthday he left, and he hasn't been seen since due to the difficulties of leading a society emerging from secrecy.
Raeu [ Older Brother ]
The older of the two twin princes, Raeu has never met Mochi, or at least not directly. He has, however, been watching Mochi from a distance for the past ten years or so. He isn't sure Mochi would handle the revelation of who his father is very well, as well as why he's been gone Mochi's whole life and that he has two siblings, so he's kept quiet and distant.
Kai [ Older Sibling ]
Kai, the younger of the two twins, has also never met Mochi, choosing to listen to his father's words on waiting to reveal themselves to Mochi until the youngest sibling is ready to handle the information, given that Mochi's past has been sketchy at best. Kai keeps his ear close to Raeu, however, and keeps up to date on the going-ons in Mochi's life. If any of the taepeh'notuu would show themselves to Mochi, Kai would probably be the first.
