Zhou Zheyuan

Zheyuan is very loyal to those he cares about, and will not hesitate to lay his life down for them if the situation calls for it. He is a lot nicer to other people than Hua Cheng is, despite his scary appearance. Although he is somewhat nicer, he does not seem to really care about humans except children. Having died when he was only a child, he feels some sort of need to ensure that other children do not meet the same fate. He is ruthless and cruel when dealing with trouble (be it other ghosts, mortals or gods) and has done many, many unspeakable things without batting an eye. He is also a very private person as he often changes his form to remain anonymous, especially to Heavenly Officials. Although he dons many skins, his preferred form is that of a thin, sickly young boy, the same form that he died in.

As a lover, Zheyuan is very loving and quite clingy as he has been starved for affection since his birth. He flirts shamelessly with his partner and enjoys teasing him mercilessly. He is not one to deny his partner of anything, and would gift them the sun and the stars in the sky if asked. Also he tops lol. And he likes it when his partner begs.

In his child form, Zheyuan is reserved and quiet- almost in an ominous, creepy sort of way. He has very little presence in this form, often going unnoticed by the people around him. He is also more childish in this form.

Cursed with a pair of eyes that saw things no mortal or immortal could see, Zheyuan was abandoned by his family and left to die on the streets of Xianle. As fate would have it, he ended up surviving and saving an orphan boy who was being tormented by bullies, thus marking the start of Zheyuan and Hua Cheng's friendship. For years, the pair only had each other, until Zheyuan was captured and killed for his eyes. As Hua Cheng held his dying friend's body, he begged him not to leave him alone, and Zheyuan promised that he would always be with him.

He was reborn as a ghost and watched over Hua Cheng. Later, he managed to slaughter the people who killed him for his eyes and retrieved them. At some point after his death, he emerged from Mt. Tonglu as a ghost king and has chosen to remain largely under the radar, helping Hua Cheng from the shadows until after the events of the main story.
