Dolos was born out of wedlock to two parents who had to essentially give up their dreams of a more wealthy future to care for Dolos. His mother had dreams of being the DoN of a hospital she worked at and had to give that up for maternity leave and caring for Dolos full time. His father had dreams of going into law school and becoming a lawyer, but because of familial pressure, had to drop everything to care for Dolos. Dolos was a sickly child growing up and he essentially had to have round the clock care. His father worked in sales at a pharmaceutical company while his mother continued to work as a nurse. Because of this background, Dolos became interested in healthcare and wanted to become a surgeon.

Filled with jealousy and ire that Dolos was able to pursue his dreams where they had to drop everything to care for him, they did everything they could to hinder him from never going to school (or at least failing miserably). They would let him have no time at home to study, always giving him chores or a rigorous and impossible exercise regimen so he would stay tired. They couldn't take him out of school because the parents' families would look upon them with suspicion so they sabotaged his future as much as possible. This worked in the beginning, but Dolos was relentless in his pursuit in his desire to become a surgeon and enter the same field as his parents. Dolos never knew that his parents wanted him to fail, but he was constantly reminded how he was an unwanted part of their lives and how his parents always had to sacrifice for him. This, in turn, made Dolos want to become a sacrifice for someone to truly understand the devotion his parents showed him. He believed that he had to earn his place in life and he had to constantly prove to everyone he deserved to live the same life as they did.
