- Edlyn is a knight of Orthea and Lauren Duval's retainer. She is fiercely loyal to her liege and to her country.
- A fierce fighter with a big heart, Edlyn is always ready to lend an ear to her companions and give advice when asked. Outside of combat, Edlyn finds solace living with Lauren and maintaining a flower garden in the castle grounds. A diligent worker, Edlyn maintains supplies, volunteers for watch, and trains constantly. Lauren has been trying to get her to stop exhausting herself.
- Edlyn is fully aware of her martial skills and prides herself on her prowess as a solider. Edlyn has competed in 4 jousts and 2 brawls. Her cool head in battle and flashy fighting style have earned her the admiration of many women across Orthea. She takes any loss as an opportunity to better hone her abilities.
- She considers herself loyal to Lauren first and Orthea second. While she is gravely concerned with the direction Lauren's ideals are taking her, she currently believes that Lauren has the people's best interests in mind.
- Backstory
- Edlyn is the only daughter of a veteran knight who served Cienne's city guard. She lived in a small cottage just outside the castle gate where she was able to watch royalty and knights from across the land march past her window. Edlyn loved to watch the soldiers in their gleaming armor, dreaming she could become a knight like her mother someday.
Edlyn got her chance when her mother was hired by Duke Fernand Duval to train his eldest daughter Lauren. Edlyn and her family moved inside the castle grounds, and she was permitted to attend training with other future knights and the duke's daughter herself. When Edlyn first met Lauren, they immediately hated each other. She thought the young royal was stuck-up, rude, and a bore to be around. As the two got to know each other, they developed a friendly rivalry and spent more time together. Edlyn dedicated herself to her training, and it became a common sight to find her late at night practicing in the training yard.
She was sent with Lauren to the Officer's Academy in Astril when they were old enough, and graduated with high honors for her skill with almost any weapon. Edlyn's dream became a reality when she was knighted at her graduation. The night after the ceremony, Edlyn promised to Lauren that she would always serve her. Lauren, moved to tears by her friend, made her her retainer on the spot.
Over the course of several years as Lauren's retainer, Edlyn had fallen in love with her and confessed her feelings for her liege in their room. Lauren reciprocated her feelings, and the two have been closer ever since.
Edlyn is currently assigned with her squadron to put down the Montelon Rebellion.
