Profile
A sweet free spirit that is also a literal spirit. They live in the land of the dead, but are unable to remember their life or what caused their death and thus cannot pass on to what awaits good (or bad) people in the afterlife. She doesn't remember her real name. "Mona" is simply a pseudonym that sounds kind of like her real name (as they only remembered the vague sound of it).

PERSONALITY
Mona is a bit of daydreamer and often fantasizes about flying and feeling the wind in their hair. They think that in life they wanted to become a pilot, which would also explain the goggles.
She tries to help out others first and often ignores her own needs. While they are not a full on delinquent, they like to do fairly harmless mischief and incite others to join them because they think it's fun to mess with people a bit.
HISTORY
BACKGROUND
Mona was born as Joanie Caruso. Her parents died when she was 10 with no relatives to take her in, so she was sent to a foster home. Two years later, they were adopted by the Liao family and met their new younger sibling, Enya. Enya was 4 years younger and was a bit shy, but Joanie got them to open up.
At age 14, they came out as nonbinary and lesbian, and their family was quite accepting. Joanie in turn helped Enya with their gender and sexuality crisis when they were around this age as well.
At the time of her death, she was 19 and still waiting for her parents to allow her to take flying lessons to become a pilot (they wanted her to wait until she was 20). One day, Joanie came home from an errand they were doing for their parents and found Enya, who was frustrated and upset for a reason she never learned. Joanie went to them and instinctively went to touch their cheek to comfort them. However, upon physical contact with Enya, Joanie's body shut down and she died nearly immediately afterward.

MAIN STORY
When they next awoke, they were in Immeamund, the realm of the dead. The Eye, the ruler of the dead and presider over all fates, attempted to search her memories to judge whether she was a good or bad person in life. However, they could not remember how they died, and as such The Eye had no gateway into the rest of their memories and could not judge them, which meant they couldn't pass on. The Eye concluded that she had unfinished business and said that whenever a group of realm travelers to Nesitralia (a place where memories can be recovered, also hosting the core elements and deities of life) came along next, they would send her with them. A group was essential as the monsters in Nesitralia, which often sprung up and were extremely personal to the traveler, were dangerous to face alone.
It was also around this time that The Eye asked for their name. Not remembering what it was, but only remembering the sound, they chose to go by "Mona" until further notice, as the vague sound was familiar enough.
When Enya, Thierry, and the twins are summoned to Immeamund by The Eye as the next recent pair of realm travelers, Enya recognizes Mona near instantly as "the ghost" they'd been having visions of, which makes sense to them both as Mona is dead. However, they cannot remember ever seeing each other. The Eye sends Mona along with the group, but gifts her a special power to assist her with her journey. It turns out they were given a third eye in the center of their forehead that has the power to see anyone's true intentions.
