[c]Laggard is a determined, jovial, charismatic individual with a kind heart who was taught to never give up. While the saying was useful and gave him hope for the most part, it tends to make him push himself to the limit and block arguments out of the picture which comes to be ironic; as while he is an individual who will put others before himself, he’ll leave them alone if thinks them to be too indulged in their own foolishness.

[c]He’s quite brainy- it’s often you can practically see the figurative gears turning in his head and he usually comes up with the most outrageous things which can fall flat on his face. At most times doesn’t take shit from anyone, which means he doesn’t know when to shut his mouth. Even if it might be dangerous, because he knows he can possibly rely on wheedling out of trouble. He’s known to be very levelheaded and commonly shows his frustrations or anger through sarcasm, snapping when his buttons get pushed too far or prompted on a sensitive topic.

[c]to those who he despises he comes off as curt, sardonic, cut-to-the-chase and Impatient, or at the very least disinterested.

[c]Laggard had a steady job working as a math teacher in Colorado, although his lectures were often ignored and found to be boring or too difficult to understand. He butt heads with his coworkers often, one in particular just liked to mess with him but he tried to remain professional every time.

[c]sometime in his youth he’d gotten involved in a car accident in the back of a taxi, a car had rammed into the taxi from the side and it’s flank caved in, catching his lower body with it and permanently injuring his left leg. He took a break from teaching after that but still refused to quit entirely, he wanted a purpose in life and actively sought one.

[c]sometime he’d met a woman [redacted] and they’d fallen in love, however it was discovered she was pregnant and they both reluctantly agreed to marry and take care of the child, for awhile there was a spark between them, and he provided for his family while trying to be a good father to his daughter. This had made him feel as though he had a place on earth, a reason to keep going day by day outside his job. However as the baby grew to be 6 months old the mistress took the child and abruptly, cruelly cut contact with him. He was devastated, confused- but his marriage wasn’t as happily-ever-after as it’d appeared to him; his wife [redacted] and him got into many disagreements, finical debates and struggled to communicate properly in some cases. [redacted] did have a cruel hand though, out of spite she made sure he wasn’t able to meet his daughter again until she was off to college. Now he’s afraid she doesn’t even know who he is, afraid she doesn’t know he loves her and always wanted to be there for her.

[c]this ultimately fueled his motivations to quit his job as a teacher in pursuit of becoming a CNA, to help fill the void of never being able to be there for his estranged daughter and instead be there for others.

[cb]Appearance

[c]Laggard has brown steely eyes and stands approximately around 6’6, although due to a permanent injury hindering him he tends to hunch when he walks. His black hair is cut short and curly with a shaved beard shadowing partly up towards his cheekbones. His skin is tannish but his ears appear to be redder then the rest of his body and stick out from the side of his head. He has a partially subtle line of wrinkled across his forehead and his eyelids look heavier then they feel. He wears a worn, weathered blueish-stormy grey jacket and dark-olive green long sleeved  shirt. His pants are long solid black and little baggy at the edges, with a black belt wrapping around the waist with matching black shoes that are also worn.

[cu]Marnie is a 17(or 12 depending on the Rp)year old girl, she’s free-spirited, independent and sassy, brainy like her father and constantly getting herself into trouble. From what her mother tells her, it makes her resent her father and blames him for never being there for her.. and for how out of touch he is with her interests, and if she had grown up with him she would’ve frequently butt heads, trying to act like she can do everything by herself. however, she secretly cares for him and wants him to still be part of her life, but is too afraid to show it.
