The Eidolon was the first jailer created by the entity at the core of Auden, that being The First One. Eidolon was, in a way, a test run of the jailer species. This is why he has a skeleton and scales of natural, real gold, rather than silver.
He was regarded as the god of the future and prophecy, as he was able to see into the future. He shared his visions with the Audenian people, and from his prophecies religion began.
Then, there was Eidolon's final prediction, the last thing to be written in the holy texts. Some odd million or so years in the future, the radiated light within him that gave him life would be stolen and made into a new being, a new god that would bring about the end of Auden.
