ABOUT
"The humans are such fascinating creatures, aren't they?"
Many eons ago, back on Cybertron, Supernova was certainly a star of their own accord; they were a performer, an idol, rather well-known among the planet's people. In the wake of the war, however, there was seldom a need for performers, so they eventually had to abandon their old calling. In doing so, however, they ended up finding a brand new one when they made it to Earth.
They quickly became incredibly taken by the fleshlings that populated the planet, and they became devoted to discovering as much about their culture as possible. They also love to see what makes them tick in a physical sense, leading to them taking up their post as the Decepticon's resident anthropologist. Their less-than-gentle approach to studying humans made them unwelcome with Autobots, but they don't mind that at all; they're far more at home on the Nemesis, with their fellow Cons.
PERSONALITY
When people hear 'Decepticon', they often imagine a certain type of Cybertronian... Supernova doesn't quite fit into that assumed ideal. Rather than being particularly standoffish, harsh, or otherwise menacing, they are actually rather personable. Enough so that it actually makes their fellow Decepticons uncomfortable on occasion, though their difficult time picking up on social cues makes them rather oblivious to this most of the time. They're just here to have a good time and pursue their interests. If not for the fact that they like to pick humans apart to study their inner workings, and perform experiments on them for fun, they might be in the Autobots' good graces instead.
With that not being the case, though, they spend much of their time aboard the Nemesis sequestered in their lab space, trying to figure out the best possible ways to get humans to behave in a way they believe is ideal for any Cybertronian needs. They often like to go out and about to study humankind firsthand, though being a rather sizeable Con with a plane vehicle mode, they're unable to get as close as they'd like.
They are in a polyamorous relationship with Starscream and Knock Out. Is it the most healthy thing in the world all the time? No, but it's theirs.

RELATIONS
Initially, the two of them had a rather contentious relationship... or rather, he had no idea what to think of Supernova. Starscream finds their whole interest in humankind to be ridiculous and a waste of time... but considering that they - somehow - genuinely think the world of him and are one of the only people on the ship that doesn't want to kill him, he was willing to let them get up to whatever nonsense they liked. With each and every setback that piled on and every inevitable reassurance from them, that begrudging acceptance became something a bit more.
Supernova initially ended up becoming rather close to Knock Out due to his shared interest in humans and their culture; they often ask him to figure things out for them that they're unable to observe themselves, since he's been able to get into closer proximity with them due to his choice of alt mode. Discussions solely about human findings and research eventually evolved and trailed into genuine talks, interest in Earth's life becoming interest in each other's lives.
The two are incredibly adept at communicating without words; in events where Supernova goes non-verbal, Soundwave is always the one who is still able to understand what they want to communicate. While the two have their issues from time to time, especially because of their preference for Starscream as opposed to Megatron, Soundwave is still the Decepticon closest to them aside from the two in their polycule.
Many assume that Supernova would get along quite well with her, seeing their interest in humans to be similar enough, but they will be the first to profess that they are way more different than they are alike. 'I'm a scientist, she's a hunter' is the simplest way they'll explain themselves, though if given the chance, they could go on a tirade about their personal distaste for Airachnid. If push came to shove, they'd be willing to work with her, but only in service to their own greater goals. After all, they'd expect the same from her.
While they work under their lord as requested and do all they can to follow orders when given them, their feelings about Megatron are more than obvious. He is one of the only Cybertronians that Supernova has been witnessed being truly nervous and even fearful around, being someone that makes them truly uncomfortable. While they work alongside him and the rest of the Decepticons for the sake of their safety and research, they know how fragile their position in his ranks is.
MISC
TRIVIA
- Their design is inspired by the Vocaloid song Tricolore Airline by Atsuzou-kun. Specifically, their alt mode being a commercial airliner is because of this, as well as their color palette being pulled directly from the song's logo in Project Diva / Project Mirai.
- They are capable of emoting with the spikes / ears on the side of their head; drooping when they're sad, folding back when they're uncomfortable / angry, etc.
- Their main voiceclaim is the Synth V voicebank Solaria, though they can speak using multiple forms of vocal synthesis software.
