Cheshire/chesh

their legal name is cheshire. it was given to them by their parents. their parents being powerful beings, those who protected their village from dangers. though this was way back before cheshire was even thought of. over time the world had changed and there was no more need for a protector, even so with two. the two decided to travel around becoming nomads in a sense. they helped many and often stayed in a wagon carried by two horses. 

after years, they soon had cheshire. they wanted cheshire to be a protector like them. being the most fearless protector and being the strongest of their kind. so they was given a powerful name. the parents tried to teach cheshire how to hunt, protect, and gather. but cheshire never seemed to like it all too much. they was good at their teachings and picked up on things fast, but they never wanted to do anything with it. soon enough cheshire found themself diving into the world of studies. learning anything they could and loving to ready a good book. 

cheshire's parents didn't mind this. as they still cared for the child. but they were let down, as cheshire had become more book smart than a worriless hero. if anything, he was ridden with anxiety. they tried to talk to cheshire to get them to become a fearless protector. the thought of not having a warrior of a child had made them a mess. the parents still believed that the world needed protecting. that someone needed to be saved from unknown forces. though despite their please cheshire didn't desire such a fate. cheshire had much rather own their own little library or to explore the world searching for all its knowledge it had to offer.

cheshire was soon called chesh, as in chess, by their parents and their friends from all over. they didnt mind as it felt more fitting and home like than cheshire. cheshire was a protector's name after all, and chesh was a simple human fox that was un-naturally book smart. of course, chesh knew how to protect themself and others. they did occasionally have to push some people off before. but they never liked to touch other people in any way and wouldn't even want to hurt a chicken. which yes, it had made hunting unimaginably difficult. they just wanted the world to be at peace and for people to stop fighting.

throughout their life, chesh grew with a nomad life. they had read plenty of books and had strong connections with people due to knowing their family and talking with many. they often liked to hide out at the tavern but if they aren't there chatting about with friends and travelers, they are outside looking beyond enjoying the town's view and the worlds beauty. of course, they would be at their home with their own family enjoying a good book and the warmth of others.

but wouldn't they have to protect someone at some point, due to the nature of their kind. as the protectors spirt still lives inside them. it's up to the holder to finally let them out and be one with all.
