Kris is from a small town in the US that housed a secretive government facility. No one knew what went on there and most didn't particularly care. Until one day, something went horribly wrong at the facility. People reported hearing a huge explosion before a shockwave rippled throughout the town. This shockwave turned the towns' residents (human, animal, and plant alike) into monsters. Some got changed more than others. The facility was abandoned after the incident. A couple questions linger in everyone's minds: What in the world happened at that facility? And what kinds of dangerous things could be lying around there? The thought scares many people, but it intrigues as well.
About 17, Kris is your average high school kid. He just wants to make art and hang out with his friends. However, some of their peers tend to give him a hard time. Their height and baby face make him an easy target for bullies. Kris' curiosity is sparked after the incident and he wants to find out what the government was up to. They are currently keeping a journal on all the things he notices around his town post-incident.

Eli has been Kris' best friend since middle school. Neither of them were shunned, per se, but they were (and still are) both huge nerds who clung to each other immediately. They even came out around the same time.
Alda has known Kris since elementary school but never really got to be good friends with him until more recently. She is also more of a loner at school but she doesn't really mind too much. But have a couple friends is nice.
