Profile

Scarf
Tambora is a phoenix with feathers of varying shades of red, orange, and yellow; the orange and yellow appearing in longer tufts of feathers on his head, neck, and tail as well as his primary and secondary wing feathers. He has long, pink ears and two sets of horns—one straight and one curved—which are black. His talons are zygodactyl and his claws are the same shade of black as his horns. His skin and beak are pink and he has bright yellow eyes. The tuft of feathers on his head may be styled differently day-to-day and he may wear a variety of scarves (all of which he knitted himself) on occasion, especially in colder climates, although he doesn't necessarily need them due to his pyrokinesis. His plain white scarf is his favorite among them.
Design Notes
- His talons are zygodactyl (having four toes: two in the front and two in the back).
- He has two pairs of horns (four total). The uppermost set is straight while the lower set is curved.
- You can draw his 'hair' however you want!
- His scarf is an optional accessory. You can also give him scarves of different colors/patterns or change how he wears them!
- The bright lines that separate the bright colors of his neck, wing, and tail feathers are a stylistic choice and are entirely optional. They can be the same color as the rest of the lineart or not present at all.
Tambora has a very upbeat and joyful personality. He is very talkative and always excited about something he'll want to discuss for ages—one in his presence would find it hard to escape his constant blabbering. He is very kind and will often go out of his way to help those he knows with even the most trivial tasks, and even to his own detriment. Tambora is always very aware of those around him and takes care to pay attention to how his friends are feeling so he can offer to cheer them up when needed. This is in part due to the great relationship he had with his father before he passed—it is very important to Tambora that he lives up to the kind person his father was. He also tends to be very gullible and naïve. Due to his tendency to see primarily the good in others, he is much more trusting than he should be, which often leads him into trouble.
Tambora has a strong sense of morality and a constant need to make things right when able. He often prioritizes the well-being of others above his own, resulting in him often ignoring his physical and mental health until they have already declined. Without someone around him to remind him of his tendency to do this and encourage him to take his own well-being into consideration, his sense of self-worth often suffers.
In Encliffe
After the succession of the Myna Kingdom throne by Lily but before the climax of the political issues brought upon by the Black Magic project, Tambora resided in Encliffe, a small town and port located along the southern coast of the Myna Kingdom. Tambora was hatched and raised in this town, and soon after his father's death, took up a job there as a hired hand, providing help to many of the merchants, traders, and other sellers and buyers that made business there.
Joining the Pale Rebellion
When the Pale Rebellion was started, Tambora took great interest in its cause. Upon looking into joining, those closest to him discouraged him from doing so, implying it was poorly managed and a lost cause, despite their general consensus of disliking Lily and her Black Magic project. Tambora applied despite their negative opinions and took care to leave his home quietly in favor of living in Tristis, the capital of the kingdom and the Pale Rebellion's primary location. While he currently does not have a solid role in the Rebellion, he hopes to learn how to use magic for healing purposes for the benefit of its soldiers.
Skillset
- Knitting Proficiency: Knitting is a hobby Tambora has long been invested in and is quite good at. Mostly, he enjoys making scarves, and has accumulated quite the collection for himself over time. The scarf he wears most frequently is his plain white one.
Natural Abilities
- Fire Breath: Tambora can spit fire from his mouth using venomous gas stored in the roof of his mouth that is released and set ablaze on command by a special 'tooth' set in his jaw. The inside of his mouth is heat resistant to protect himself from any possible negative effects.
- Heat Resistance: Tambora's external body is resistant to high temperatures, so much so that he can touch and handle fire safely.
Learned Abilities
- Pyrokinesis: Tambora can create and manipulate fire. He was taught this ability first (briefly) by his father and later a mentor within the Pale Rebellion and is not yet exceptionally skilled with it, often making mistakes and struggling to control it. As a result, he has a habit of setting himself on fire accidentally. When this happens, he doesn't always notice right away due to his heat resistance.
Nightstorm
From the moment Tambora joined the Pale Rebellion, he latched onto Nightstorm due to his outgoing and kind personality. The two have since become very close friends and are not often seen apart by choice. Because they share a mutual interest in healing magic, they frequently study and practice together.
Kee
Kee was Tambora's father, and the two of them were very close before his death. Kee raised Tambora as a single father in Encliffe after he and his wife split up until he died when Tambora was eight (14HY). Kee was a very compassionate person and a good father to Tambora, who looked up to him greatly.
- Tambora was initially a recycled Fakémon design ('Flamix').
- In the first draft of the story, Tambora was named 'Flamebird' (along with 'Seabird' and 'Thornbird' representing Laekces and Camphor respectively) and he played only a very minor role. His personality was also drastically different—he had a huge ego and was the meanest of the three.
