Past

Wilfried was born into a servant family, his parents worked as a butler and a maid for a wealthy human household. He was incredibly well-behaved and benign as a young child, which made him a favored playmate for their employer's children. Due to this, he was allowed to attend the same private lessons as them, though he was prohibited from doing anything that would hinder their learning progress. Especially for the music lessons, he was not allowed to learn any of instruments, much to his disappointment. In spite of that special condition put on him, Wilfried worked hard to keep up. He would watch how his playmates played the instruments and memorize their finger movements. Eventually, he convinced the other children to let him practice on their instruments and have them cover for him. It was only a question of time however, before their little secret was discovered.

The first people to find out were Wilfried's parents, but instead of punishing their son, they decided to support his talent. Using what money they saved up, they bought him his own violin and had him apply to a proper music school. Wilfried went on to study music in college, before he was hired to play for a handful of different orchestras. Although he travelled a lot for his work, his schedules were too hectic for him to actually learn anything about the places he'd visited. Yearning for a slower pace, he decided to go solo for a while and settled for a small Italian town by the coast, where his mother came from. During that time, he would perform in cafes and bars - and as it happened, that's when he met an Altaria who would later become his wife.

While his love for music never changed, he didn't want to go back to that restless lifestyle and stay indefinite time away from his family. In the end, he put his energy into supporting his wife's dream of opening her own coffeeshop. Although it wasn't always easy, their business began to flourish and Wilfried soon became the proud father of two beautiful daughters. Their happiness was perfect; perhaps a little too perfect. Shortly after their tenth anniversary, his wife was diagnosed with malignant cancer. The news threw their world into disorder, and it followed a long period of despair and grief when she could not be cured. Wilfried was left to raise his children by himself, though it's their comforting presence and dependency on him that pulled him through the hardest time of his life.

Years later, even as his daughters have gone on to lead lives of their own, the aged Togekiss was still running his late wife's beloved coffeeshop.

Trivia

• He received a dawn stone from his parents when he announced his engagement, which prompted him to evolve into a Togekiss.
• He never takes off his wrist watch, as it's his most important memento. His wedding bands however, have been put aside to be used by his daughters one day.
• His daughters, both Altarias now, have inherited some of Wilfried's musical talent. Though only the older one pursues a career like her father once did.
• Nowadays, it's rare to find him play for an audience outside of his family and closest friends. He's learned the violin, piano, and cello.
