02 — Personality

At first glance, Time Bomb appears aloof and withdrawn she usually has an attitude uses sarcasm and defensive mechanisms to keep herself distant from others (you can never be too safe in The Zones). Because of this, they've been interpreted as reclusive by those who aren't too perceptive. Though in reality, they are a survivor who learned to mask their suffering with the only thing they knew from their life Battery City: suppressing their emotions and refusing help from others. Since they had to fend for themselves in the zones in solitude for a long time, they were isolated and lonely before they were eventually being taken in by the Fabulous Four.

At first Time Bomb's style of communication was sparse, but with time, safety, and support, she'd open up and learn to love themself and others around them. Time Bomb's personality shines brightest in with those she is most comfortable and trusting, usually by the quiet flickering light of the campfire or in the solitude of the rundown diner's backroom. In these moments, the mask of reluctance and reservation slips, revealing a fun, loving, creative, and outgoing person.

03 — Background (WIP)

Battery City/The Escape

An accidental child of a couple who lived in Battery City. Since she was an unauthorized child, the couple had to surrender her to a Better Living Industries "orphanage" (it's more similar to a dog pound but with human children) as punishment before they could even name her. While her original parents were then converted into draculoids, she was lucky enough to be adopted by a former Pornodroid named Purple Droid (their relationship was strictly familial as mother and daughter; DON'T BE WEIRD!! ), who wanted more company in her life after her human partner passed away. The android chose to name her Amy Droid and loved her like her very own daughter (or at least how she understood humans would love a daughter).

In the dystopia that was Battery City, every human citizen had to wear headphones at certain hours of the day at certain frequencies so BL/ind could monitor them. On top of this, citizens would be required to take certain drugs to control their emotional states, often completely negating their emotions. Amy was no exception to this rule and had to grow up under these conditions in Battery City. Unbeknownst to Amy, Purple had been tampering with her headphone handicaps (to see if they could receive radio signals from outside of the city) and emotion suppressant pills (because she knew the truth behind BL/ind drugs) throughout her adolescence. Because of this, Amy would have small blips of emotion that would gradually increase with age. However, this wasn't noticeable to anyone, especially since Purple had tampered with her headphones, and most people were unaware of what emotions felt like anyway. By the time Amy turned 15 years old, she was enlisted to work as a receptionist for BL/ind. The company imported scraps and goods from The Zones to create consumer products for the citizens of Battery City. Each day was a dull repetition of the last, and over time, Amy came to fester with a major distaste for her job. The tampered pills would suppress this hatred but not fully eradicate it. This would also cause momentary surges of confusion, frustration, and dejection because she didn't understand what was happening; she had never felt emotions before and didn't know what they were.

The final push that made Amy finally come to terms with the fact that she could feel emotions was when her headphones began to malfunction at random times of the day. At first, it was just random static, but one fateful day, the headphones began to pick up radio waves from an infamous Killjoy Station: WKIL 109. WKIL 109 was run by the one and only DJ, Dr. Death Defying, who would play music and share news about The Zones and Battery City. Through Dr. D's station, she learned about many topics BL/Ind would attempt to censor or completely eradicate, such as the Helium Wars and the Killjoy movement. Suddenly exposed to all of this new information, Amy began to realize how dystopian and tyrannical BL/ind was. The discovery of an alternative way of living as a Killjoy was a thrilling idea for Amy; she admired the Killjoys for their bravery and wished to become one.

For months, Amy pretended that their handicap had never malfunctioned and kept listening to the station whenever she could. Each day became agony now that they were aware they lived in such a desolate environment, and with such a tedious and unforgiving job, she could not help but feel miserable and alone. The only thing that kept them sane was their only form of escapism: listening to music on Dr. D's station (she especially liked The Mad Gear and Missile Kid's music). Many of the artists played on the station were escapees from Battery City themselves, so the topics of their music were extremely relatable and engaging to her, especially the viewpoint of despising Battery City and BL/ind. Throughout these months, there would always be a small voice in the back of her mind trying to convince her to escape into The Zones. At first, she was terrified by this idea; after all, she still somewhat believed that something was wrong with her and that her emotions were abnormal and defective. She also knew that she could not tell anyone about the malfunction or her newfound sentiments because BL/ind would undeniably punish her for this situation that was out of her control. So she finally decided to listen to what her gut was telling her to do and began to plan her escape from Battery City. They knew they had to go through with it for their sanity or at least die trying.

During the months following this decision, Amy began to meticulously plot their escape by slowly and subtly collecting materials to create makeshift tools and various weapons to assist her, the most important of her creations being her iconic electric roller skates. Her android mother, Purple, often helped her with these creations, seemingly believing Amy's lies that they were working on new products for the company. Since she was in a fairly high position in the BL/ind company she worked at, she had more access to equipment and was under less surveillance than most employees. However, this doesn't mean she didn't have many close calls, almost getting caught and questioned multiple times by superiors. Yet they still persisted. When Amy was finally satisfied with their plan, they wasted no time executing it.

The day before Amy left for her final shift at work, Purple sat down with Amy and told them all of this. Her mother, who had always known how corrupt Battery City truly was, had been aware of Amy's escape plan for a few days now. Though she was slightly saddened by the thought of Amy leaving, she truly wanted the best for Amy (which is why she tampered with Amy's handicaps without their knowledge). They were initially confused by her android mother's sudden sentiments, but they eventually put all of the pieces together and had a very much needed, heartfelt conversation. Before they said their final good-byes, Purple gave her daughter a final parting gift: a copy of The Graffiti Bible, a collection of religious texts distributed by androids in Battery City. The book describes their faith in Destroya, a massive android, whom they hoped would one day rise and set them free from the city's tyranny. With this new knowledge and ambition, they were finally ready to make their departure.

Amy planned to attempt to sneak out in the dead of night after one of her night shifts at work since the building was towards the edge of Battery City's borders with The Zones. The best-case scenario for Amy Droid was to escape the city without alerting the draculoids patrolling the area and to avoid conflict, but of course, this did not happen. Luckily, they came prepared. She knew it was futile to attempt hand-to-hand combat with draculoids, so she created makeshift explosives to protect herself from them as she skated towards the desert with her electrically powered roller skates. Narrowly escaping the clutches of the dracs, they were able to successfully flee to The Zones with minimal serious injuries. Terrified of being tracked down by other BL/ind pawns, they kept quickly skating until they physically couldn't anymore. Eventually, they were able to find a small abandoned thrift store around Zone 3. Once Amy reasoned that they were finally alone and safe from the dracs, they collapsed from exhaustion and fell unconscious.

The Zones/Meeting The Fabulous Killjoys

Amy's new life as a Killjoy proved to be less than easy. Though they did gain their own identity—now going by the Killjoy alias Time Bomb—in The Zones, they were no longer in an overseen, controlled environment. Time assumed they would find support and safety in the desert, but they found out very quickly that this was far from true. There was almost no form of camaraderie or security between Killjoys (who weren't in any form of alliance) apart from safe areas. Surprisingly, they were able to adapt to the harsh conditions of the wasteland despite her solitary life style. They believed that their independence and quick wits were what kept them safe in the desert, but eventually their time spent in solitude began to affect them very negatively. Time became extremely reclusive, paranoid, and mistrusting. They became an immovable object nobody in The Zones could push around. Whether it was creating makeshift weapons, studying the Graffiti Bible, or teaching herself self-defense long-range combat, they always found reasons to stay busy.

For the next two and a half years, Time Bomb followed the same routine to keep herself alive. They would often earn carbons and basic necessities in the Zone 5 trading area by creating and repairing contraptions for other Killjoys. Though, as they became more well-versed with the trading system and how other Killjoys operate... (writing still in progress)

04 — Trivia

  • Outfit is handmade and customized by them!

  • The first song she ever heard when her handicap headphones malfunctioned was 'F.T.W.W.W.' by Mad Gear and Missile Kid

  • They're best friends with Kobra Kid and very close with Jet Star and Fun Ghoul, but have a very complicated relationship with Party Poison (sometimes they're chill and friendly and other times they can't stand eachother)

  • Genuinely thinks they hate Party (actually has the worst crush on them imaginable, bro is INFATUATED!!)

  • The doodles on her shoes were drawn by the fab four! Time Bomb loves her skates dearly and only let them draw on her skates it was symbolism that she truly trusted them.
‧.° The yellow bubbles were drawn by Kobra Kid, their best friend! They symbolize good luck and good omens!
    >:3 The green silly face was drawn by Fun Ghoul! It symbolizes their close friendship!
☆☆ The red stars were drawn by Jet Star! They symbolize positivity, happiness and renewal!
∴ The three dots were drawn by Party Poison. What looks like a poor excuse of a lazy doodle is packaged with a lot of hidden and unspoken meaning and symbolism intentionally put by Party. The three dots are actually the mathematical symbol for 'therefore' but to Party they symbolized the past, present, and future; the three dots symbolized the moments they've already experienced together, the moments they are experiencing, and the moments yet to come (nerd!!).

  • The first gifts they ever recieved were their own customized ray gun and killjoy mask from Party (technically from all of the Fab Four but they sent Party to give it to her after they got into an arguement after they saved her from a group of Dracs when they first met [holy shit quit yapping, Ami]) to Time Bomb, they symbolize the gift of the new identity and security of being an affiliate of the Fab Four.

  • The bandana on her left arm was gifted to her by The Girl!
