Maplegaze

A scrawny brown tabby she-cat with a lighter belly and yellow eyes. She has prominent canines and several claw marks along her flank from past battles

A shy she-cat who was never one who liked confrontation but was tossed into it. She tends to always have a nervous energy to her that has been increased due to anxiety for her kits' safety.

Pre-RP

Maplekit was always a nervous cat. Always jumping at shadows and fearing straying too far from the safety of the nursery. Her parents hoped that in time she would gain more confidence but she seemed more than content to hide away in the warm nest over exploring camp like others in the nursery. When the time came to become an apprentice, Maplepaw was given a bold mentor in hopes it would teach her to come out of her shell more... it didn't work as well as some hoped but she seemed to be getting more confident gradually.

Swiftpaw would become an apprentice shortly after her and the outgoing tom would adopt her as a friend. Nervous about it at first, she warmed up to the excitable cat and found she enjoyed training with him. However, Maplepaw would be held back a moon due to her mentor deeming that she needed more time to learn the proper warrior skills. But eventually she would earn her warrior name, Maplegaze alongside Swiftspark.

Moons of peace continued and the two went from friends to mates over time. They were even considering having kits when the war with Windclan broke out. Maplegaze set the idea of a family to the side, focusing instead on keeping themselves alive. The battles were harsh on her. Her pelt became littered with scars from claws scoring her flank and more often than not she found herself fleeing and feeling as though she was letting her clan down.

Eventually, she'd be kept further from the major battles as the war raged on. Left to hunt and help get the wounded back to camp rather than fight. Swiftspark however stayed near the front, his large built making him great for sending the scrawny moor cats running. She found herself worrying for his safety, always fearing he'd come back to camp majorly wounded or dead. Even he'd gotten his fair share of claw marks to forever mar his pelt.

The war seemed as though it would never end. Maplegaze felt her time for kits would pass before peace would come again. So she and Swiftspark agreed to try. Stress however, would cause some issues for the pair but they wouldn't give up hope for a family some day. Not too long after, her worst fear would come true and she'd watch a clanmate carry Swiftspark's body back into camp after lingering tempers flared into a border skirmish. The she-cat wailed for moons over the loss of her mate. His death felt unwarrented upon Wolfcatcher's death ending the war moons before. Her only consolation was learning that she was pregnant with their kits—the only remnants of a connection she'd have to Swiftspark. It still sent a pang of hurt through her chest to know he'd never get to meet them in life, or their kits him.

Her kits would come later than expected. Concerns for if something was wrong were whispered throughout the nursery and medicine den. Some even wondered if all the stress between the loss of her mate and the fire that had devestated the old camp had harmed them. Really, it was difficult to imagine the kits had survived moons passed the expected kitting.

By some miracle, Maplegaze's anxieties were finally put to rest as she welcomed Adderkit and Sparkkit into the world. Her sons were perfect reflections of both her and Swiftspark. And unfortunately, Sparkkit seemed to have his dad's personality as well. Maplegaze was always on her toes keeping him out of trouble, nearly having a heart attack when he managed to wander out of camp and have a monster nearly end his young life! Unharmed thankfully, but she's always kept a fearful eye on him. Now that Sparkpaw was an apprentice, the task seemed impossible and it scares her how much danger he'll find out there.

During rp

Spending most of her moons hunting and trying to keep Sparkpaw out of trouble, her life would be going on as usual.

It wasn't until Sparkpaw and the other apprentices tried to go after the foxes taking over the territory that Maplegaze would find herself filled with fury and strength only a mother trying to save her kits could possess. Hearing Sparkpaw had been grabbed, she'd raced to hunt down him and the fox. Her attacks would make the predator drop her son, but in the process she would instead meet a swift end as jaws clamped down on her instead.

Thawspring was unable to retrieve her body to take back to camp but Maplegaze's spirit lingered at Adderpaw's side that night during the vigil. The next morning she would join Swiftspark in Star Clan, though feels helpless that she can't protect her sons anymore.
