Description
Romeo Grayves was a jewelry maker in a moderate sized town. He would often travel to collect supplies for his business. He came across many rare metals and gems through his travels that he used for his work and sell. His business was decent and he made enough to comfortably support his wife and their son.
In his travels he came into a rare black Diamond that he returned home with to make into beautiful jewelry. However, the Diamond was not all that came home with him as it had an evil spirit attached to it. The spirit manifested as soon as he began to shape the diamond for his work and offered a contract to him; promising riches and power to Romeo. He refused the offer and the spirit became incredibly angry.
Because Romeo had already begun to cut the Diamond it had weakened it enough that the spirit escaped and possessed him. In the spirit’s rage it used his body to kill his beloved wife, Circe. Romeo was unfortunately conscious for the murder but had no control over his own body and was unable to stop the spirit. However, before the spirit could kill their son, Romeo was able to gain control just enough to run into the streets covered in blood.
He was immediately arrested and set to be executed for the murder since no one believed he’d been possessed. Romeo blamed himself for what had happened so he easily accepted his sentence, asking his brother, Draven, to take in his son.
Draven agreed however, after Romeo had been crucified and left to die on his cross at the edge of town, he came to his rescue. He got him down in the middle of the night and escaped with him out of town and went into hiding in a nearby town long enough to nurse Romeo back to health.
Once Romeo was back to full health, he once again asked his brother to take care of his son. He wasn’t sure if the spirit had any hold on him any longer and he feared what would happen to his son if the spirit took over once more. Draven again agreed as long as Romeo promised to visit at least once a year. Romeo agreed.
He began to travel alone, taking up wizardry with the eventual goal to become a necromancer to get his wife back. However, the spirit’s brief hold on him began to splinter his mind and he quickly started to become more and more unhinged. His morals have become loose at best. He doesn’t have a problem using others to get what he wants. His main goal is to reunite with his wife and make the evil spirit pay for what it’s done to him. He will stop at nothing to do this; no matter who it hurts.
