Samurai!
His father is a kitsune and his mother is a human. He and his mother aren't well liked in the village. He takes care of his elderly mother, not sure where his father is.
He can talk to foxes.... which isn't helping his reputation at all.
Secretly gay, but his mother knows.... she figures out everything, much to his frustration.
He is an alcoholic, he locks himself in his room and gets piss drunk on sake to cope with his depression.
He is an absolute Mess of a samurai yet is still one of the fastest swordsmen.
