Adventure Time sona......

•Born before the Mushroom War, living in a city with his parents and sister, Jolyne

•He's around 17 years old when the bombs fall. His sister isn't at home when the planes fly overhead and the family evacuates to a fallout shelter

•At some point, they're forced to leave. Jonathan's parents die horribly in the span of only a few days, leaving him alone and traumatized with only his two cats for company

•Their first run-in with an irradiated monster leaves him horribly scarred, and his pets presumably dead after they're thrown by the beast into irradiated sewers

•The cats return to Jonathan in their mutated forms, now capable of speech and better able to protect him, but he's still traumatized after watching them apparently die. The fact they have both been twisted psychologically by the ordeal doesn't help

•Eventually, Jonathan collapses after a long and painful struggle, having been slowly poisoned to the brink of death by radiation

•As he's slipping away, however, he has a vision of a strange person with gleaming gems for eyes. They speak to him in a voice that sounds eerily similar to his own, promising to save him from his inevitable end. Jonathan would be granted renewed and continued life-and in return, they would claim his happiness

•Terrified of what awaits beyond this existence, he accepts with little hesitation. He feels an inhuman, repulsive touch upon his shoulder before waking back up in the real world, where his panicking cat friends are relieved to see him

•From that point on, there is a gemstone embedded in his back, the symbol of his pact with that strange entity. It keeps him from sliding back into oblivion, and has extended his lifespan to astronomical levels. He still looks like he's 24, which was when he stopped physically aging

•The first thing it takes from Jonathan is his old life. More precisely, any joy and fulfillment he may have once had. Affection, love, contentment, all of it is drained away to feed the creature that dwells within him

•He can recall events, but feels nothing for them. He physically cannot care for the people he once cherished more than anything. Jonathan is left hollow, adrift, an ill-fitting puzzle piece in the plane of reality

•This cycle continues for over a thousand years

•Jonathan has nothing, and no one other than his toxic codependency with his cat friends. And at this point, this is the only thing he can imagine for himself

•He never did find his sister
