Shiloh is what they call a Dream Weaver. A species of humanoid that communicate telepathically and share dreams to each other from any distance via their 'stone'. The stone is balanced betwen two horns that old it in place, if the horns break the stone can fall/break/be stolen. These stones hold great power and while the Dream Weavers are pacifistic and docile, people hunt their stones to use their magic for evil.
Shiloh was a victim of theft, his stone stolen and his connection to his people severed. He is stranded on a planet, unable to communicate with his community and left to live his life as normally as possible while a part of him is forever broken. Not even the return of his stone can repair the damage as his horn was snapped and it will never be able to hold the stone in place again.
He can still share dreams with others but only if he's touching them. The reciever of these dreams doesn't have ot be another Dream Weaver as dreams can be shared with anybody.
He spends his time creating artwork inspired by his vivid dreams, selling it and living off of the meager profits. He has become a bit of a local celebrity from his work and one of the royal knights has taken notice of him.
