Asterstar is someone who bleeds confidence. He is confident to the point of arrogance. He loves being the center of attention. He equally loves challenging himself and will often do risky and daring things to amuse himself. He's a thrill-seeker and loves the adrenaline rush. He's a rather observant guy and uses this skill to gain advantages over other people. He's an opportunist and will take any advantage he can get. He has rather low morals and doesn't particularly care about the level he has to stoop to to get what he wants. However, his low morals don't necessarily mean he doesn't care for other people. He did become a Clan leader, after all. He is fiercely protective of his Clan and will do whatever it takes to make sure his Clan gets out on top and has advantages over other Clans. He believes in survival of the fittest - but it applies to everyone, including himself. He intends on making his Clan strong enough to survive any threat, even without him. Everyone should be self-sufficient. At first, he appears to be a rather non-threatening joker and is constantly smiling and laughing. It takes an effort to get under his skin. He can be rather charming if he wants to be, but he can also be an unrepetant jerk that has no problems stabbing you in the back.

Asterstar's father was a powerful warrior with a domineering prescence who specialized in brute strength. His mother was sly and clever and had a great interest in herbs, despite not being a medicine cat. Their relationship started out loving, with Asterstar's father mellowing out some while around his mother. However, his mother quickly grew obsessive over Clan relations and started to plot ways to get them on top in the hierarchy. She often snuck out of camp to patrol the borders and started to trespass into the borders of other Clans as well, trying to learn their secrets. His father was not fond of such measures, but when his mother justified it by saying it was for the good of the Clan, his father quickly got on board. The two of them were an inseparable team, though their obsessive natures quickly grew worrisome.

Asterstar's mother was already ill before she became pregnant with Asterstar himself and when she gave birth, she barely had any strength to look after her only kit. Asterstar tried to spend as much time as possible with his mother, but she seemed rather disinterested in him and he was quickly abandoned in favor of Clan duties. As a result, he grew up fairly isolated in his own Clan, the son of great cats but unable to connect with or impress them in any way. He idolized the both of them at the start, until that idolizing turned to bitterness when nothing he did was ever good enough. He was apprenticed to a stern and battle-hardened she-cat and he drank in her lessons and discipline, seeking her as the parent that he never had. She taught him everything that he knew and when he became a warrior, he was determined that his parents must be proud of him now. His determination turned to dust. His father was focused on becoming Clan deputy and then Clan leader with his mother to follow. Asterstar desperately wanted to become a part of their plans, but he was shunned at every turn.

As a result of this neglect, he slowly began to gain a circle of friends, though how much he trusted them varied by the day. His abandonment issues got in the way of forging any genuine friendships with them, though he was determined to treat them better than his parents had ever treated him. Even though his trust was thin and his affection limited, his circle of friends became very loyal to him. Eventually, his father did succeed in his ambitions, though his mother became ill once more and could not join him. Asterstar abandoned her to her sickness and when she passed, he feigned aloofness. His father was the only one left to impress. When Asterstar presented himself as a worthy deputy when the old deputy failed, his father chose him. He was pleased, secretly hoping that perhaps now the two of them could forge a proper relationship, but it was all for naught. His father was continuously obsessive over enemies and boundaries, insistent on TorrentClan's superiority. So, when he lead a battle against a rival Clan and got himself killed in the process, Asterstar was less than impressed and none too surprised. He ascended to the title of Clan leader. Although bitter and hardened by his parents' own ideals, he is determined to be a better leader than the both of them and prove that he is more than their progeny.
