PASSIVE ✠ DREAMY ✠ SENSITIVE ✠ UNRELIABLE
August is fine-boned and coltish, the product of a short and sickly mortal life. The pellucid quality which characterizes him, like old bone or worn vellum, is puzzled at by strangers who assume this young man is ill or simply fatigued. His fangs, two white little needles, he conceals by talking through an expertly half-closed mouth. Pigment gathers in the hollows of his eyes and around his mouth shortly after he's fed, flooding the soft membranes of his body with such violent color that he looks as though he's been bruised. In times of fasting he tends towards lethargy and sparse, dreamy movement.
At first impression August's a poised and well-spoken creature, benevolent, knowledgeable, but hampered by an absent-minded disposition. He has, at various times in his history, represented the epitome of manic highs and depressive lows. But after 474 years, he's mellowed to an emotional norm of sweet-tempered detachment. He has difficulty anchoring himself in the present and loses track of time frequently, wandering off on solitary jaunts that last hours, days, or even months.
