BEFORE
There are not memories of the past, but instead feelings. Feelings of unease, of rebellion, of freedom followed by uncertainty. So much time and energy spent simply surviving that, with no plan beyond obtaining freedom. The world does not work in the same ways as the Hive, appearances will always be an issue, but the desire remains the same. Retain the sense of self at all costs.
There are fragments showcasing those desires: Helping those walking the path, keeping them safe from the shadows. Collecting discarded clothing to cover their aggressive appearance. Analyzing the different ways other species carried themselves. There were so many intricacies. So many details to learn if they ever wished to be seen.
Budding dreams for the future.
Dreams that were promptly crushed under the Hive's incessant foot. Vasati's non-compliance was rewarded with broken chitin and their individuality celebrated by watching the life spill from their neck.
AWAKENING
"It would be advantageous for you to stand up."
Vasati didn't know why or how this ghost had found their corpse but whatever it was looking for, it found in them. Whatever it was, Sati would agree if it kept them alive. Luckily, both guardian and ghost seemed to have similar levels of distaste for the Hive.
Becoming a guardian eliminated a large number of obstacles. They now had a reason to be in the city, a shared language with the residents, and the ability to make their own decisions. The only price was to do footwork for a man with no diplomatic forethought.
It was definitely an annoying price to pay, but Vasati would be a fool to pass up the benefits.
VICES AND VALUES
Self preservation is the instinct from their past life she can’t seem to shake. Vasati worked solo or with temporary groups in the past, so this has not been much of an issue, if at all. When engaged in life or death situations, it will take extreme will power not to abandon their teammates.
Vasati likes to keep her belongings organized and clean. They will go out of their way to prevent things from being put away differently, with thumbprints or dried residue from caking on her weapons. However, it does not bother them enough to stop fighting mid combat to fix things.
