Skates

Named after the Earth animal, specifically sea skates, these creatures are by width the largest in the known universe (not counting talgoz). They bear a striking resemblance to skates, however they have four limbs that allow them to climb on land and manipulate objects. They can fold their huge fins to their sides to greatly reduce their size but still require larger doors than humans or mantidons. They have both lungs and gills, and require these gills to remain moist to survive. The planet they come from also has less gravity, allowing them to glide, or even fly, long distances.

Skate-made ships are notorious for their pancake-like shape, and equally short, flat architecture. Ship manufactuering companies don't like to spend the extra money making computers and other ship components for them, so skate spacefarers in mixed-species crews tend to have back problems from stretching upwards all the time. Their space suits come equipped with air and water tanks.
