The first lifes of Xaffreon’s were rather uneventful—having consistently been born to a black-quilled akkinerik named Revvik on the planet of Cherejj, he was destined for a life of slavery and pain. He was 4.10.12.442--4th kit born on the 10th month, 12th day. 442 is the number he is, relative to how many other akkineriks were in his gang at the time of his birth. But beyond that, nothing about him was unique.

That was, until he died. Xaffreon’s first death was rather unremarkable—passing in the night with naught more than a whimper. What happened afterward, however, was bizarre. Xaffreon died, and time went on, eons passed, the worlds decayed, the universe collapsed in on itself, and then, as the universe was reborn, so was Xaffreon. He opened his eyes against the breast of a black-quilled akkinerik named Revvik on the planet of Cherejj, destined again for a life of slavery and pain. Only now, he remembered his past life—a seemingly identical iteration to his current one. And he was the only one.

This was a continuing phenomenon. As soon as Xaffreon lost his life, it would begin again and he would be the only one who could remember his last life. His first few were filled with confusion and panic as he struggled to understand what was happening to him. There wasn’t much luck on his part there, as he still doesn’t understand at all—but he has come to roll with it.

Once it fully sunk in that Xaffreon, no matter what he did in one life, it would simply restart when it ended, Xaffreon gained a bit of courage. He snapped back at his masters and was aggressive in most interactions. It was then that his masters saw his physical potential and sent him to the ring as an entertainment fighter, where he spent most of his lives thereafter. It was much better than any alternative, and meant he could hone his own skills and agility.

Xaffreon would repeatedly attempt to escape from his master’s territory, sometimes successful, but more times than not, he’d fail rather miserably. That being said, it wasn’t long at all before he became so adept at the art of escapades that he would often times return to his master’s home and help other Akkineriks escape as well. Soon, he came to engage in and spearhead full-on revolutions for his people against the ruling Leffetik of his planet.

Though, no matter how many times Xaffreon lost or succeeded in his struggle for Akkinerik independence, he would always be reborn at the start. He would have to fight over and over again and more often than not, he would die before he could even revel in his success. He never saw lasting consequences of the successful revolt, as he always would be reborn a slave—he would always have to fight.

And Xaffreon grew tired. If he wasn’t giving up his life as a slave, he was giving it up for others. He adopted a cynical perspective of his own endeavors and decided to start looking out for himself first. To learn what it really meant to live. He would often escape with his best friend, Kinito, an Akkinerik he would come to call his brother.

Unfortunately, Xaffreon’s trials as an Akkinerik did not end when he left his planet, as the enslavement of his species was galaxy-wide. In order to dodge law enforcement and bounty hunters that sought to take him back to Cherejj, he became a Bounty Hunter himself, which remains to be his occupation today. He and Kinito would amass a small crew and go around, proving wrong those who doubt an Akkinerik’s skills and making quite a name for themselves as some of the most notorious Space Pirates in history, as their captain could seemingly get them out of every scrape imaginable. Almost as if he had done so a hundred times already.

Summary

Xaffreon, backed by the memories of countless past lives, is determined to live the best life he can for himself. Having been born a slave for nearly every one of his lives, he is well-versed with serving others, and as a result, has adopted a very self-centered worldview. (Though that is not to say he is without compassion).

As a member of one of the most enslaved species in the galaxy, Xaffreon is constantly on the lookout for dangers and bounty hunters that seek to take advantage of his status. Alongside his fellow-liberated Akkinerik and brother, Kinito, Xaffreon travels the galaxy under the Bounty Hunter Profession.

Armed with his past lives, there are very few instances in which Xaffreon cannot escape from. His instincts are honed through lifetimes of struggles, so he tends to trust his gut much more than his physical senses.

He is merciless only in the sense that he will do anything to preserve his quality of life, though he will not go out of his way to harm others.

During his travels, he gathers several individuals to join his crew. They do not share his trait of remembering past lives, so Xaffreon is often the captain of his group.

But not even he could predict the beginning of this story.

Present Day

Well into some undefined lifetime of Xaffreon’s, he was intercepted by a group of seven people that he did not know, but who seemed familiar with him. A crew of Ajjoxil, Delraji, Tevain, Nyco, Obyrin, Bysolt, and Feir’luk, all, save for Obyrin, individuals who could remember their past lives. .

They were panicked, urgent, and relieved. Xaffreon had been on their crew before, though he had no memory of it. The universe was coming to an end, and not in the way it normally does, when it rolls over and comes back. Someone was seeking its destruction—a permanent destruction. And only those who could remember were able to do anything about it.

A Doctor Reiscoe had called them together once he confirmed the Eight of the Final Crew, and the universe’s decay. Their Xaffreon was killed recently, though they were all well aware they could not complete Reiscoe’s mission without him, so they sought out another.

The universe is falling apart, stars, moons, and entire planets are disappearing, fading out of existence and memory faster and faster by the day. Xaffreon joins the Final Crew in the final hour—and with such a rapid decay, cycles are also failing. If any one of them die, there is no guarantee there will be another.

Today, Xaffreon is one with the Final Crew—he has assumed his ‘old’ position as pilot under Captain Delraji as they travel through remaining Cycles and Space in a futile effort to find Waypoints to secure the universe’s breakdown.
