Personality

Ortensia has a monotone voice when she speaks, is quiet and observant. Her passion is singing and playing her pan flute and is an amazing entertainer. Her overall demeanor is stoic but she is funny in her own way, only speaks when she wants to and never overshares, all of which leaves an overly mysterious impression. When she sings, it's vastly different from her original (monotone) voice. People are easily enchanted by her voice, combined with her gloomy appearance, attracts many eyes to her alien beauty, making her immensely popular in comparison to other bards and entertainers. Especially when she dances, as her body sways beautifully to the notes of her voice.

Ortensia dresses herself in pieces of black leather, dead leaves, raven feathers and tiny bones she finds. Her wings are of a Dark Lunar Emperor Moth. Her hair is short and wavy, curling up randomly, with her bangs slightly shorter than most, above her eyebrows.

She wears black lipstick, nail polish and eye shadow. Everything she wears, she likes to keep dark, anywhere from a dark grey, faded dark leather brown, or black.

Backstory

Ortensia lives in a small faerie village in a grove in the faewilds. She felt distraught at not being able to meet others who shared her interests and tastes, making her an involuntary outcast in her village. No one hated her, nor did they think ill of her, they just could not understand her. They simply left her alone, and that didn't sit well with Ortensia. It ultimately made her feel unloved, unwanted.

To help combat her loneliness, she relied on her mother figure, an elder faerie of her village by the name of Rosemallow. She spent many moons with her, until finally, she felt it was time to leave.

Ortensia decides she must leave, as she feels she wants to see the world and find others who may understand her and may even befriend her. She can't find what she wants in her village and she can't rely on her elder forever, so she leaves the safety of her grove to go on an exciting adventure.

Campaign

Session One

Ortensia approached Rosemallow to inform her with her intentions to leave and to bid farewell. Rosemallow wanted Ortensia to travel and enjoy her own adventure and to experience the world just as she once did. Proud of Ortensia's initiative, she guided Ortensia to a faerie circle, advising her to sleep there. She did, and awoke elsewhere, in another world called Luverium.

Ortensia ends up waking up in Godsrest Jungle. She was somewhere unknown to her and while she felt brave at the thought of travelling the world, She found herself terrified now that she was outside the Faewilds. She begins to feel anxious and decides to sing to calm her nerves. Her song was soothing and beautiful. The jungle was quiet, as if out of respect for her voice echoing throughout.

Meanwhile, Myst, an artificier who was staying at the Azure Monastery nearby, was taking a leisurely walk and happened upon Ortensia's song. This is how Myst first met Ortensia. Over the course of a few months of being together, they learned that they were complete opposites when it came to their interests and tastes. Ortensia enjoys the macabre while Myst loved colors and things that sparkle.

Myst's character can be rude and come off a bit strong but it's because she's a hard-worker and a perfectionist. She's very opinionated as well and isn't afraid to speak her piece. Ortensia found Myst refreshing. While there are faeries like her back home, Myst was a new experience. Her kind were felines and this was the first time Ortensia met cat folk. She found Myst entertaining and was surprised that despite their differences, they became friends. This made Ortensia believe that maybe she was wrong. She believed no one wanted to be friends with her because she was so vastly different from others but in the end, it was because no one made the effort to get to know her as Myst had. Meeting Myst was enlightening and Ortensia felt relieved that she had someone to journey with on this adventure.

Their first adventure being Myst's Invention! Myst wanted to create a steel defender that served as both a workspace and a bag of holding. They named this project Cloudy. To build Cloudy, they worked together to gather parts, whether by scavenging or Ortensia utilizing her talents to gather coin to afford required items! Their efforts were fruitful, completing their project. Cloudy was not a companion alongside them; Cloudy was a small desk-shaped machine who performed their duties perfectly.

While on their travels, they come across Tethlyss. They come across Tethlyss' campfire and he motioned them over for warm fire and food. As they sat and conversed, Myst and Ortensia notice his injury from a recent shark wrestle. They assist them with his injuries and decided to help him defeat the shark that injured him. Together, through cheerleading Tethlyss, did they help defeat the fiend! Afterwards, Tethlyss decided to join the girls on their travels, thus becoming a band of three. They girls learned more about Tethlyss. Tethlyss is a shark man who likes to wrestle (animal) sharks and drink at his leisure. He's a gruff but friendly caretaker. Doesn't like to talk much but is quite a soft man. He finds it hard to refuse the girls and their incessant begging for him to cook them meals (although you'll find he secretly finds it charming as he loves to cook and enjoys cooking for them anyways) or to allow them to sit upon his shoulders (Myst saw Ortensia do it and wouldn't let it down until she, too, could be tall).

Travelling together, they found themselves exchanging little gifts! Ortensia & Myst gather cooking ingredients they find and bring them to Tethlyss, who very much enjoys cooking and trying new things. Ortensia and Tethlyss collect shiny and pretty things for Myst, who we all know loves color and things that sparkle. Tethlyss and Myst collect macarbre and dark things for Ortensia, such as small animal skulls, teeth and dark feathers. It was delightful to have friends, Ortensia thought. She never thought she'd befriend a cat and a shark! It was exhilarating travelling with them, it was never boring and she quite enjoyed their travels.

Which ended up leading them to the Festival of Unity. They quite liked the idea of attending a festival and couldn't resist thinking of a warm meal and good drink to be had.

Once they arrived, it was dark and cold from snow, but the lights coming from the tavern & inn, hung festival lights and stands, lit up the surrounding streets, making it easy for them to reach for the entrance. Upon entry, they felt an air of warmth and a waft of meat and ale along with hearty laughs and chatter throughout. The festival cheer was contagious, improving the bands mood after such long travel. As they continued inside, Ortensia noticed a crew of three companions, mercenaries, she surmised. A rogue, warrior and a pet dragon companion. She overheard them speak of a bounty of a kidnapped faerie carried away by local bandits. This piqued her interest as the victim was a fellow faerie and she thought perhaps they could assist in the rescue. However, as she conversed with the crew, Tethlyss and Ortensia found them untrustworthy as they lied continuously and expected Ortensia and the others to do the heavy lifting on their behalf so they could make off with the reward. Instead, to hear more of the bounty, they decided to speak with the bartender, Refeus. He surely would have information of a local bounty.

And that he did. The bandits scurried off with the victim, running northwest outside of town. They learned they were a three-man band of misfit boys who grew up in the town and fell upon hard times. To capture them and rescue the faerie, they must pass a dangerously narrow cliffside to reach them. Ortensia looked to her company, asking if they'd like to undertake such an endeavor. They agreed and so their next adventure would be to rescue a little faerie from bandits. Afterward, Myst attempted to flirt with Refeus as he was a handsome Leonin, but alas, he couldn't catch onto her advances and flirtatious quips; he wasn't exactly bright. Still, it proved to be a lively night! They enjoyed a hearty meal, good drink and each others company.

Before that, however, they were at a festival! They wanted to take up some games and activities from the surrounding stands. Ortensia found a Voodoo stall that piqued her interest. She played three rounds, winning only one. Her ticket for a prize was small but still rewarded her with the opportunity to receive a voodoo doll from the vendor. Myst found a human claw-machine run by a young man. The premise was to grab as many prizes as you could before the claw brought you back to start. Myst saw an opportunity and asked the vendor if Cloudy could partake in this game. Foolishly, the young man agreed, and Cloudy would be carried by the claw. Cloudy ascended into the air and as they grew ever closer to the prizes beneath them, Cloudy opened their drawer (bag of holding), and snatched up every prize available. The young man tried to get his inventory back but Myst said he approved of Cloudy playing the game and thus, forfeited such a claim. Myst was ecstatic, and found herself received hundreds of (useless) colorful toys and knick-knacks.

Meanwhile, Tethlyss approached a whack-a-mole booth that had an actual mole inside. The vendor he approached, however, was an oddly antsy Orc but Tethlyss assumed the vendor feared him as his countenance is quite intimidating. Tethlyss won the game by hitting the mole so hard the mole broke out of the console box and ran off. The orc turned to Tethlyss, sweating profusely now,

"Wonderful job, sir! As promised, here is your prize!"

The orc pulled out a paperclip and pocket fuzz from his pockets and proffered it to Tethlyss before making a break for it! Tethlyss found himself disappointed but decided another game was in order. Before moving on, a man approached the now broken whack-a-mole console and shriek in disbelief. Turns out, the Orc pretended to be the vendor of this stand. Tethlyss offered the man justice in exchange for payment. The man said he'd give him a stronger weapon if he could indeed give him justice by returning the orc to face punishment. Tethlyss, with Ortensia's help in Animal Speak, found the orc and learned that the orc only pretended because he feared Tethlyss, claiming that he was only there to release the mole as it was stuck and this orc considered him an animal rescuer. The orc refused to come back and explain his situation but Ortensia managed to convince the orc to return. As they returned to the real vendor, Ortensia managed to explain things smoothly, describing the event as merely a misunderstanding. Since Tethlyss kept his part of the bargain, he received a fine weapon in return for their sleuthing.

They all decided this would be the end of their night enjoying the festivities. They had a long night and were ready to rest before they make their way to rescue the faerie the following morning. They grabbed a room from the tavern & inn, feeling exhausted from all the excitement of the festival and tonight's events. Tethlyss took his place in the chair beside the door to their room; he is a light sleeper and is prone to sleeping in places that serve as the best place to protect them if need be. Myst yawned loudly, smacking her lips before curling up on the bed. Ortensia slowly flew over to Myst, landing beside her. She made her way under Mysts' tail and arms, making herself comfortable in Myst's warm fur.

The next day, the made their way toward the narrow cliffside. Before they could get there, they had to go down a long stretch of road in snowfall. As they enjoyed the leisurely walk, Myst noticed something slip through the surrounding trees. Whatever it was, could hide among the snow. Myst alerted the others to prepare themslves.

As Myst finished her warning, 5 Ice Mephits emerged out of the trees and snow, surrounding them. Ortensia was a bit ahead of the others, Cloudy and Myst bringing up the rear. Tethlyss pulled out his new weapon, readying himself for battle.

Ortensia, however, had other plans. She spoke to the Mephits, claiming her and her friends would absolutely not taste very good. Her persuasion was successful, making the Mephits leave. All but one. This Mephit wasn't fooled and immediately darted towards Myst. Tethlyss couldn't reach her or defeat the Mephit in time before it clawed at Myst, leaving a gash in her arm. Tethlyss went into a rage and completely decimated the Mephit in one fell swing.

After it was dealt with, Tethlyss and Ortensia check in on Myst. Myst was fine, however, it took her a moment to calm down and stop shaking as this was our first battle encounter. Even so, it didn't stop Myst from groaning over her injury longer than it was necessary. She asked Tethlyss if he could carry her the rest of the way, which Tethlyss was more than willing to oblige as he knew it satisfy her. Myst liked to be doted on and she wasted no time taking this opportunity (and didn't feel like walking at all). Knowing Myst as well as they do, they all but shook their head, giggling at their injured-but-totally-fine friend.

Finally, they reached the narrow cliffside. It was dangerous. Ortensia didn't have to worry as she could fly but she was worried for her friends and asked them again if they'd really liked to go through with this. Tethlyss grunted in affirmation. Myst nodded, determined to see this through, Cloudy following along. Ortensia nodded and together, they stared ahead and glanced down. It was a long, long fall. To fall would mean death, but these adventurers were set on their path.

Will they get across? Ya'll will just have to wait. lmao
