King Charles Spaniel, he/him

A guy who knows nothing but pain, medicine, and death. His family is plagued with health issues, primarily heart health, and he’s lost many due to it. His cousins, aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings, his father. He somehow still has his mom, but she’s very cynical about things. He’s gotten used to the calls, picking up the phone and hearing of another family member who’s passed away. Their breed is riddled with problems- it’s only time until he’s next.

He’s already had a few surgeries, nasal and palate surgeries resulting in scars around his muzzle that he chooses to wear a mask to hide. He’s also had thoracic surgery from a health scare when he was younger.

He works as a phlebotomist, finding irony in working in the health field himself but finding a little bit of peace with helping dogs who hate blood draws get some comfort. With his small size and calming accent, he doesn’t pose as much of a threat and uses it to his advantage. Granted, he can certainly still defend himself- certainly has needed to a few times with bigger breeds picking on him outside of work. The fate of those dogs is never confirmed.

He finds it all bittersweet. Softening him up; definitely a pessimist to life. Doesn’t really look forward to much. Until an interesting bunch of dogs come into his life…
