after applespring fell ill with the sickness, jackrabbit began to do some serious reflection. he felt he owed it to his mother to become someone better than he was. he had been feeling guilty for his outrages for moons but the threat of his mother's death (which was very likely, considering her age) convinced him to change.
he's not friendly per se, but he's trying to keep his tongue in check. rather than looking angry all the time, he's tired. tired of himself, of life, and of the looks he gets from his clanmates. every time he attacks someone he falls further into this hole of guilt. but now he's working to climb out.
he wants to prove to everyone that he is not who he was. he doesn't have to be the angry deputy who everyone fears. he's no longer rabbitpounce (and he knows he can never go back to being that perfect cat) but he's also not the jackrabbit he used to be.
he's started wearing a rabbit foot tied around his neck with a piece of orange twine. the rabbit foot is both a reminder to himself of who he used to be and a reminder of his mother. it's a promise to applespring that he can be better.
jackrabbit thinks about his father a lot. while he never knew shortstep himself (other than for a few days), he's heard so many stories of how great he was as a deputy. jackrabbit is determined to fix himself and prove to his father that he can be a good leader too. but if he's entirely honest, he wouldn't feel upset if sedgestar asked him to leave the position. the struggle to lead his clan is too much when he's been so horrible to them.
his stand on starclan is still the same, and it would take a massive event to change that. he has forgiven mothclaw for her actions, but he can't possibly forgive starclan. they made his life so much harder, and while his actions didn't help anything, he wouldn't have had this struggle if that battle didn't happen.

jackrabbit's life was perfect until that day. ever since then, he's lived a life of turmoil and guilt. after spending so many moons hurting those around him, he's finally began to admit his actions and appologise for them. there's still a long way for him to go before he can be perfect again, but at least he's trying now.

rabbitkit was born in early newleaf, a perfect gift to shadowclan. just a few days later, his father, shortstep, was attacked by a bear and died. his mother, applespring, was heartbroken and struggled to care for her son. this resulted in rabbitkit's aunt, brambleberry, to step in and help with raising him. a moon later, and brambleberry gave birth to her own son, lynxkit. the pair were raised as siblings, and still see each other as such.
rabbitpaw was apprentice to sedgeheart, who would be named deputy during his mentorship. rabbitpaw was determained to make his mother proud and to follow in his father's pawsteps, as shortstop had been the deputy when he was alive. he worked hard and was an incredibly well-behaved apprentice. his cousin, lynxpaw, was the same. because of this, the pair ended up completing their warrior ceremonies on the same day and were named rabbitpounce and lynxpelt.
rabbitpounce contiuned to complete his work as a member of shadowclan and was eventually named deputy. full of pride, he vowed to dedicate himself to his clan. little did he know, the world (or so it seemed) was out to get him.

for moons shadowclan had been fighting with thunderclan over a patch a territory. one afternoon, rabbitpounce led the attack, diving into the fray while yowling commands at his clanmates. he turned his head just in time to see mothclaw strike him across his face, ripping part of his ear off and blinding him in one eye. the fight ended shortly after that, and he made his way back to shadowclan, screaching the whole way about how starclan shouldn't have let that happen.
in a fit of anger, he renamed himself jackrabbit. from that day onward, he lost complete faith in his ancestors and refused to listen to a word about them. when he wasn't in the medicine den, he was harrasing one of his clanmates. this sudden change in personality
