Ren Airora

Context

Splatoon is Nintendo's freshest IP! A colorful shooter based on the mechanics of squid-kids shooting ink to claim turf in a post-apocalyptic metropolitan society.

Appearance & Personality

Looking at tan skin dotted with pearly white freckles and sparkle-shaped tattoos that transform clusters into constellations, Ren is a star themed, bio-luminescent, Firefly Squid. Primarily born with a vibrant, near-fluorescent blue ink, Ren has always gravitated towards cool hues for her colors if given the choice. Blessed with deep blue orbs that can reflect the spectrum of the sea, her irises house peculiar star-shaped pupils. Her tentacles range from a variety of different lengths when viewing past phases of her life--but will always be topped with a stubby ahoge that had stopped growing ever since she was young. 

Personality-wise, Ren is a bit of an almost reckless easy-goer. When she was young, she was rambunctious and acted before she thought. Raised alongside her brother and neighborhood of roughhousing boys, she picked up some less than savory traits of wanting to pick fights and unnecessary violence. As she grew, she'd pick up on the fact that some of her behaviors weren't acceptable in polite society, agreeing that it expended much more energy than she had to give as she got older. Calming as the years passed, Ren has grown to be a more calculated, cool-headed, back-liner support type of teammate. From time to time, she demonstrates motherly habits from doting on friends to deriving enjoyment from usual house chores and errands.

Summary

Ren was born into a fairly typical higher-middle class type of family. Her father works as a PE teacher at one of the larger schools in Inkopolis and coaches up and coming competitive squads. Her mother is a housewife but does part time jobs on the side like weekly yoga instruction and physical therapy. Her older brother is a competitive player who's often away from home but sends back a portion of his winnings every once in a while to let his family know he's doing alright--and to spoil his sisters. Speaking of sister, Ren's little sister is a bit of an anti-social fashionista with no regard for other player's feelings when ont he battlefield.

Ren herself, is a fresh face that entered the turf war scene not long after it blew up to be the most popular sport in the world. Like anyone else learning the basics of any game, she was clumsy, chargingn forward with shooters and fairly short ranged weapons to get the attack on the opponent. As time went by, she'd upgrade to longer range type weapons, learning patience and timing in the process of using them. From a reckless front-liner to scary back-liner ready to take names, Ren rounded herself out to use many more weapons then she had ever expected.

Being a Firefly squid, ancestors had passed down the genetic coding for her to not only be bio-luminescent, but also nocturnal. Their kind lived int he deep sea upond thousand sof years ago and it now conflicts with her surface life. Sleepy, with somewhat poor eyesight, Ren can always be found napping in the day time, int he warmth of the sun.
