Niklaus is one of the oldest residents of the alien planet. Both in his age and how long he has lived on the planet. He has committed his life to this project and has accepted he will die there too, he has known this for years now.

He doesn't think on his past or what could have been of his life if he didn't isolate himself on a far away planet. He does not regret his choices. Due to an unfortunate alien accident he has lost his eyesight, now relying on two fully prosthetics eyes. He also uses a hearing aid and a fully body brace for support helping him with traversing the difficult terrain of the planet.
