The Girl Who Saw Threads

Ayşe was born to a stewardess employed by one of the many noble families in the kingdom. The story of her miraculous survival at birth has been told and retold to her by family members and friends of her mother. As the story goes, Ayşe was a stillborn child. As her mother's ceasless weeping carried on into the night, Ayşe's own wailing suddenly erupted to join her mother's mournful howling. The infant Ayşe's only lasting memento from her brush with death is the scars across her face and her blind eyes.
Though she cannot see the world around her, Ayşe's vision is plagued by threads that appear real yet she cannot touch. No other person in her life has been able to share in her ability to see these spectral threads, yet she's been unable to dismiss them as symptoms of her trauma-induced blindess. A desire to better understand and interact with these threads has encouraged Ayşe to pursue a passion for weaving tapestries.

Eventually, she is taken under the wing of Theo, an exiled ex-mage who once relished his partnership with the dragons, but lost everything with their disappearance.
