Dr. Croax is a Waterdeep detective, or a "frog with a job" as he calls himself. He's very intelligent, and truly has built himself up from next to nothing. Well, not quite nothing, he was an administrator back in his tribe. He found that quite boring, though.

Dr. Croax stands at three feet tall. He has a spindly body with a frog face, frog arms, frog legs, frog hands and a frog torso. He's also purple. He dresses himself in a lovely pinstripe suit, and sometimes wears a hat which he has to secure onto his head with a piece of string and some loose skin. He wears shoes and gloves that can be quickly removed if he ever needs to climb, but gets very embarrassed if he ever has to do so since frog hands and feet look quite silly, and he's under the impression that he's a dignified and distinguished gentleman. He's not, by the way.

Dr. Croax is truly an interesting individual. He's meticulous and quite cunning, and does have a sense of humour, but has a neurotic streak.

Dr. Croax had a normal childhood for a Grung. He hatched as a little tadpole no bigger than a copper coin in a large breeding pond. He never knew his father and mother, and they don't know which of the clutch was him either. Him and his 120,553 siblings spent their childhood eating and growing, until eventually only 53 emerged as juvenile Grung. They learned the tools of the trade for their assigned roles, and Dr. Croax was not entirely happy as a lowly administrator near the bottom of the pecking order- so he packed up and moved to the big city. He managed, though hard work, to get himself into a Detective School. He graduated with near-perfect grades, and enrolled as a Detective in the local forces. That's where he met his partner, Dr. Toed. Dr. Toed was a Bullywug with a flawless upbringing and flawless grades, Much like Croax. Only a year into his service, Toed was murdered, leaving Croax griefstricken. Dr. Croax was forcefully enrolled into therapy by the higher ups, and it was here that his therapist found out about his tendency to lie. After a recommendation to be honest to himself first so he could find it easier to be honest with others, he created a persona- Hoppy Hopscotch- to do all the lying for him. Dr. Croax is back to solving cases after his mental health leave, and could not be happier to do so. Unfortunately, another Grung has become his arch nemisis- Dr. Rybbet, a red Grung- simply because he solved a case faster than Dr. Croax did since he was on mental health leave.
