The jungle was in flames, and so many RainWings were lost in the fires, including my family. I was young, like, I barely remember any details besides tears blurring my vision. Anyways, I was taken to safety with most of the other hatchlings, near a beach that our village was named after. But only the handful of dragons who saved us had survived, unwilling to risk the lives of me and the others.

We were all shaken, even today nobody really talks about it since just about everyone in the village lost family. But.. the village was rebuilt. Slowly. It took awhile before huts could even be built in the trees, considering most of the branches and leaves had been turned to ash. But you almost couldn't tell if you visited it today.

Some of the dragons that survived left. Makes sense, I knew a friend of my sister kept having nightmares before just.. disappearing. No note, no goodbyes (not that she had anyone to say it to but still), they had just vanished! I actually woke up near a random pond one morning instead of my hut, and it happened several times! Super freaky, but, nowadays it's not an issue.

I really couldn't stay. Thinking back now, I don't know why I stayed as long as I did. All the friends I had were suffering in that dead little village just as I was. I never even played games with dragonets or hatchlings, which I feel bad about, but I assume the village will prosper without memories of the fire.

But uh, my new home! I moved to the SkyWing kingdom. It sounded nice to have less trees and more open space, just a tiny preference. I made two new friends! Cooper, she's the best. And her brother! He's more or less a doof. Both of them showed me local shops, and the best places for finding prey. They even let me help out one of their family member's market booths! Good riddance to that jungle. It would've been my grave had I been there a moment longer.
