Brownies

 Brownies are kindly fae, sometimes considered to be a type of goblin or elf, best known for their practice of helping with domestic chores. A Brownie will 'adopt' a family or property and contribute to its upkeep while the household sleeps. A family with typically offer milk, cream, honey, or other sweets in exchange for this work.

  They are very short, reaching an average adult's knee at most, and covered in thick hair so thoroughly that only their eyes, hands, and feet are visible. They like to decorate themselves with bits-and-bobs they find, such as the berries and branches of our example Brownie. They have the same range of hair colors as humans, but brunettes are the most common and where they get their name.

  Don't make the mistake of thinking this species is servile. They are very prideful and will quickly abandon their posts if they feel mistreated. They can neither be bound nor compelled by magic. If their food is offered as payment instead of gift (implying they're employees and not family), they'll be insulted and leave. If offered clothing (implying charity or that you dislike their decorations), they'll be insulted and leave. If named or thanked, they'll be insulted and leave. So on and so forth. And if you're lucky, leaving is all they'll do.

Greenies 

  This nation of Brownies descends from a group of a thousand individuals that chose to follow Santa in his cause of spreading Wintertide cheer. They received blessings from Virgolene, Goddess of Diligence, that granted them immunity from the frigid temperatures of the arctic circle and infinite materials to make toys with. This unintentionally changed their color from brown to green, but they embraced the change as a new classification. They were henceforth known as Greenies.

  Greenies resemble tiny pine trees and have taken to decorating themselves accordingly. Every worker can be told apart by the various ornaments, lights, and gay apparel they chose to don. Greenies have a more relaxed attitude towards names than Brownies, since working in a factory has made them necessary for organization, but insist on naming themselves. Most choose to call themselves after some aspect of their appearance, such as our example Greenie to the right named Bauble.

  Every Wintertide, children all over the globe leave out bottles of milk and plates of baked goods for Santa. Not many of them know that they are actually contributing to the Greenies' yearly holiday bonus.

Un-Green 'Greenies'

  Not every Greenie is actually Green! Just like 'Brownies' come in brunette, blond, redheaded, and raven-haired variants, 'Greenies' come in various colors of foliage. The most common variations are Autumnal colored; red, orange, yellow, and sometimes even purple. These Red Greenies prefer to do the maintenance work around the factory instead of build toys themselves. Despite their natural skill as handymen, their insistence on 'clever shortcuts' sometimes leads to hilarious disasters and shenanigans.

  The rarest color by far is completely white: the fabled 'Wintergreen' Greenie. Occasionally Greenies will be born 'frosted', with white at the tips of their fur, but total albinism has only ever been seen once. The Wintergreen in question is uncommonly shy and there are rumors he posseses strange powers other Greenies don't have... But that's a story for another time.
