After their father dies in the blight Mar runs into the Hawke family. Not really having anywhere else to go, they tag along and end up being close to the family.
Personality
Once he finally escaped his abusive father, Mar decided to just be true to itself. It doesn't take life too seriously (unless it involves someone else). May have an unhealthy coping mechanism of just internalizing everything and, when in being self deprocative, having very aggressive sex with whoevers willing.

Initial Design
Given they just escaped their father, a lot of their design is simply trying to mask their feminine traits in a way that won't enrage their father.
This involves wearing loosing clothing and typing back their long hair. Most of their scars are hidden to the best of their ability.
After Dark Roads
Once they escape the dark roads they really lean into becoming who they want to be.
With Anders help it gets top surgery, allowing it to lean into a tits out look. It also wears its scars with pride and, now that there's more money, gets a lil' fancy. Also cuts more of xir hair.
Design Notes
- Mar has lots of scars, but the key ones to note are on the back of their hands by the wrists, on their collar bone, on the left side of their face and over where the uterus would be.
- Mar's bottom eyelashes are longer than the top
- No part of their body gives them distinct disphoria, its more how other people precieve them.
Abilities
Though they are a mage, they admittedly don't do a lot of casting. He had to hide it for most of his life, so he found ways to combine his magic with archery to make it more subtle. He convinces most people its just special arrows.
Passive Self Heal

As a child developed a way to make their magic improve their healing rate. Not an instant heal, just increases the rate in which they heal.
Delay Detonate
Fire | Arrow Enchantment
Creates an explosion from the arrow, usually set to a delay so that everyone can get away from it.
Astral Arrow
Pure | Arrow Creation
Creates an arrow out of pure magic. Works like any other arrow, just allows them to keep fighting if they run out of arrows.
Barrier
Pure | Arrow Enchantment
Using arrows as mounting points they create a barrier. The arrows allow increase stability and less mental fortitude.

Mar grew comfortable using this bow back in Ferelda, so when it was time to flee and they needed a weapon they felt most comfortable defending themselves with, and that was their trusty bow.

When escaping from the blight, Mar only had a small hunting dagger for any up close encounters. It wasn't very good, so when they got a chance to in Kirkwall they bought a proper iron dagger.

They don't wear the armour unless they are expecting battle, simply because they don't like how it looks. But Arzen bought them the armour for their safety, so they will wear it for combat.

Relationships
Close Companion
Arzen is probably the person Mar comes to trust the most. The two seem to spend more time worrying about eachother than themselves. In a way, Mar fears Arzen abandoning xim more than anyone else.
Magical Eye Candy
When it comes to trust, Mar would leave their life in Anders hands, but not necessarily their darkest secrets. Not because they don't think he'd keep them, but they just don't want to put that strain on him. Above all, Mar is just glad Anders is there for Arzen.
Complicated
Above all, Mar is well aware that they have the hots for Fenris. If you ask why they'd probably say "its hot when he steals hearts" and they mean that literally. They are quite aware though that Mages are a hard topic when it comes to Fenris, but they don't mind hiding that part of them because they're used to it. They hope one day he can heal enough for them to be honest, but in the mean time they do their best to support him.

Mar's feelings on Carver are hard to put into words. On one hand, ke will do all they can to keep Carver safe. 'Caring for him' is one way to put it. However, admittedly most of that comes from caring about Arzen. Mar does enjoy Carver's company, to a degree, but it is hard pressed to call them particularily close.
The Forbidden Word (Mother)
Mar cares for Leandra in a way that is almost entirely forgetten by them. xe would do anything for her, wanting nothing more than her safety and happiness. Unfortunately, by the time ke realizes why, its far too late.
Friendly
Mar gets along well enough with Aveline, but there is always a level of hesitancy with her. After all, she was married to a templar, even if said templar is dead now. It can't forget that she loved a man who was okay with killing mages on site, so even as she changes and improves that will always been in the back of their mind.
