Family 

- She grew up in a small cabin outside of the city, with her sister Koda and her partner Opaline

- She was raised by Koda and Opaline after her parents passed away in a car accident (Koda was 19 and Jay was 7 when they died) 

- When Jay was 13, Koda passed away, leaving her to be raised by her partner Opaline

- Even when her parents were alive, Jay was never really close with them, and she was the closest with her sister

- Through middle and high school, Claire became more controlling and manipulative, forcing Jay into things she didn’t want, and hurting her when she didn’t comply 

- After meeting Lyra, Ivy, and a few other new friends, Jay found the courage to end things with Claire for good
