Marideth is a quiet and calculating individual, the kind who always fades into the background. They can be a little socially awkward, but generally means well. Their body is piloted not just by themself, but a Quori called Deth.

Marideth is average height at 5'7" with a slender, dexterous build. For the most part they look like a human, but the giveaway is that their eyes glow a bright white whenever Deth is present (which is almost always). Their face is long and sharp, with an almost tense resting expression. Despite not being very strong, Marideth's body is very defined like a runner with long, strong legs. To the touch, they're a colder than the average human- one would be easily mistaken that they're dead.

Marideth is quick-thinking and versatile, their ranger training having given them a lot of useful skills that can be applied in daily life and quests. They're an incredible tracker with a keen eye for detail, and Mari themself will try to put others first when they can. With being a Kalashtar, Mari is as much Deth as Deth is Mari. They're individuals in their own rights, but the both of them together make up Marideth as a person. Marideth doesn't like being referred to as two separate people, as Mari and Deth are both present and conscious and in control of their body at the same time, speaking at the same time and acting at the same time. Deth is powerful enough to pilot the body on its own for short amounts of time, and can speak over Mari. It's not often that it does this since they usually work in tandem or it lets Mari do the talking, but when it does do it, their relationship becomes more strained. Mari and Deth tolerate each other- they don't necessarily hate each other, but they don't like one another either.

Marideth was born to Krasharath and Mirashana in the Slumbering Forests of Zelenoya. Krasharath was the leader of a druidic Circle of Dreams, while Mirashana mentored and trained many of the rangers of the Circle, who would venture out to seek out and destroy any wandering Nightmares or to uproot any Dreaming Dark influence in the country. Naturally, out of their three siblings, Marideth was chosen to learn the ways of the Dreamwalker rangers and eventually take over from Mirashana. They spent much of their childhood learning the ways of the Dreamwalkers alongside normal ranger activities, such as foraging and hunting.
It was in their teenage years that Marideth knew something was wrong. There had always been a tense atmosphere in the background in the circle, and whenever they weren't allowed into the clandestine meetings called by the Circle Elders, they did their best to try and listen in- although were unable to as the Druids would catch them each time. What most frustrated them is Deth- the Quori bonded to them- was also purposefully not telling them specific details, keeping its own memories locked tightly and securely away from them. Marideth eventually learnt some of the details- the Dreaming Dark, and organisation dedicated to increasing the power and influence of Quori worldwide, were the natural enemies of the Circle and would track down members and attempt to sabotage them. What they didn't tell Marideth still, was that the Quori that formed unions with their ancestors weren't running from the Dreaming Dark itself- they were running from something else. When Marideth turned 21, their Circle was attacked late in the night. A Dream Eater had found it way out of the Plane of Dreams. It devoured and destroyed Mirashana, and Marideth was too slow to outrun it themself- but instead of being devoured, they felt a heavy presense wash over them as Deth unleashed its own power through them, trying to battle off the Dream Eater and either kill or contain it. Needless to say, Marideth survived, but ever since that event has felt something strange roiling within them. Knowing they were carrying something evil with them, an evil that was biding its time, they decided to pause their progression to Lead Ranger and try and discover a way to destroy the Dream Eaters for good.
