Personality: Sweet, naive, and studious above all, Velvine devoted her life to study and research. She's kind-hearted, willing to help anyone without question, something that has led to her getting taken advantage of more than once. Velvine is an overall quiet person when it comes to her own self, however, not wanting to burden anyone else with her own troubles. But she is quick to spout off the random knowledge she possesses whenever prompted.

Backstory:

Velvine comes from a traditional, matriarchal family that prides itself on its hoard of knowledge, long ago gathered by their silver dragon ancestor, Nitraarnon. Her family has set up a museum to house it all and display it for the people of Faerun, a museum that Velvine happily spent her childhood combing through, learning all she could, something that gave her a head full of random knowledge but not many friends. 

Grown now, Velvine has turned her sights on gathering yet more knowledge and adding to her family's great hoard. Together with her only companion, her younger cousin, Afnarei, she hunts ruins, visits temples, and scours the wild in search of new discoveries, jotting down everything dutifully in her journal. When she returns home, Velvine sets up her new finds in the museum, combs through and edits the contents of her journal, and publishes it under the pen name, Insight.

It was on their way home from one fruitful adventure that they were attacked by the Nautiloid, and Velvine pushed Afnarei away to safety before being kidnapped by the Mindflayers.

Triumph over the elder brain meant that Velvine could settle down, very swiftly marrying Karlach, unwilling to waste any valuable time. As a wedding present, Velvine's great-grandmother, Nitraarnon, bestowed a magical, chilling artefact to Karlach, something which she can install into her chest and cool down her infernal engine, making it more sustainable on Faerun and allowing her to live many more years. 

Through magical means, Velvine and Karlach even welcomed a daughter into the world, naming her Valcria Caerlack Winterflight, honoring both their mothers. 

Life is comfortable and happy in Baldur's Gate. While she will always bear the scars of her journey, including her cherished ability to read and write thanks to the zaith'isk, Velvine is content with her wife and daughter. And through Gale's help, Velvine even managed to publish a memoir of her trials and triumphs through the Absolute and the Dead Three's Chosen, publishing one last book under the name Insight.
