Name: R5-Q5
Nicknames: Skid, Q5, Q
Theme: ---
Gender: None; he/him pronouns
Age: Indefinate
Owner: Arkanu
Class: Astromech (OR utility)
Model: R5 Series astromech (OR Viper R5*)

Personality:
Timid | Loyal | Empathetic

Skid is a rather timid droid, and extremely dependent on Arkanu. He can be clingy, even, but
his loyalty never weavers to anyone else. Arkanu was the only owner he'd ever had that
treated him well and actually wanted him, after all. However, due to his faulty personality
matrix, he can be rather gloomy and sulky over his own misfortunes at times -typically at the
worst of times, in fact. If you do find him in such a mood, tiptoeing around him is a good
idea, or approaching him gently -the latter of which he prefers. Get too close to fast, or order him about and he'll
quickly erupt into an ill tempered, stubborn astromech.

The droid craves attention, the feeling of being wanted, loved, and having a purpose. After all he's been through, it's
not surprising that he's so sullen -with or without the typical R5 'personality flaw'. This lust can lead him to make poor
choices at times, though each year he's with Arkanu, he becomes a little less overexcited to complete the tasks he's given.
Even so, Skid still fears that if he doesn't do his best and prove himself, Arkanu will surely give him up to a different
owner.

Skid's long history of woes does help him in one respect: his ability to empathize. He might not have gone through the
worst a droid could expirience, but he knows the ups and downs of life for a droid. In this way, he can help the droids
Arkanu and others like her find, through reassurance and understanding.

Personal Tastes:
♥ Acceptance, purpose, attention, kindness, completing tasks without difficulty, helping droids like himself

✖ Feeling abanoned or alone, harsh or brash orders, his own failures, mistreatment of himself or others

History:
Like all R5 droids, Q3 was built cheap, leading his functioning to become faulty. He was sold to the Republic shortly
after being put together. During the lean times against the droid army, he temporarily worked as a full astromech droid in
an X-wing socket with a pilot who did not appreciate being stuck with an R5 unit. They flew together for about six months
before Q3 was then abandoned after a malfunction knocked his computer systems offline for several days. He was then taken
by scavengers, where he awoke there, packed into a cargo hold with several other droids.

The scavengers were (surprisingly) not interested in taking him apart, but rather selling him as is, and he went to a man
who collected droids more than used them. However, finding R5 units an easy, cheap form of labor, the man used Q3 until
the R5 unit nearly dropped dead. More scrap metal than droid, he was eventually sold off to yet another owner, who tried
in vain to repair him and sold him off to others who wanted him for what was left of his parts than the droid himself.
Luckily, Arkanu's parents found him all in one piece and offered to buy him for slightly more than he was worth at present
state -which was still very little.

Given to Arkanu as a birthday gift, she repaired him to the best of her ability. Over the next few years, she came to
understand the full extent of a droid's sentience, and Skid was treated with respect in that way. After running away from
her family to create an organization to spread the belief that droids were life forms as well, Skid became, in essence, her
second in command. He does his best to fullfill his missions and tasks, but even with the constant help of a mechanic,
he's still prone to malfunction.

This history and parts of it depend on the universe. The summary above is of the Star Wars universe.

On Going:
Skid continues to work with Arkanu to help droids to find good homes and teach the galaxy about the sentience of droids.

*Viper R5 units are droids made to 'do-it-all'. They're used most commonly at repair shops, be it for clocks, droids,
vehicles, or just altogether machinery. Unfortunately, R5 class Vipers tend to be the ones with the most mechanical
problems and issues, but are the cheapest to buy. They lack agility and speed without major modifications, and struggle on
most terrains, causing them to be a 'domestic' type droid -typically only used in the most industrialized of places.
