Aquaticrystals [Open Species]

Aquaticrystals were engineered by scientists [CoE], to help cleanse Earth’s waters by consuming trash and other pollutants. These creatures were developed through DNA fusion experiments, which involved many initial failures (Gen 0 Variants) using DNA from marine animals or those living near water. Subsequent generations, categorized by their level of success and enhancements, range from Gen 0, the initial failures, to Gen 3, which are the most advanced and rarest.

Once mature, Aquaticrystals are released into the wild to aid in reducing pollution and to coexist with native wildlife. While Gen 0 and Gen 1 variants are generally domesticated, they exhibit affection towards humans and other domesticated animals. These domesticated variants often display behaviors akin to household pets like dogs or cats, depending on the traits of the animals from which their DNA is derived. They can learn tricks, understand human speech, and often find unique ways to communicate with their human caretakers.

In contrast, Gen 2 and Gen 3 Aquaticrystals tend to live away from human settlements. They display aggressive behaviors towards humans and lower-generation Aquaticrystals if they perceive a threat. These variants primarily inhabit open waters and secluded swampy areas.

Gen 3 Aquaticrystals, the most elusive and powerful, incorporate DNA from extinct species such as dragons, chimeras, and dinosaurs, making them apex predators that prefer solitude.

When an Aquaticrystal breaks its crystalline structures, it becomes known as a Shattered variant. These Shattered Aquaticrystals lose their ability to properly filter or ingest pollutants. Aggressive Shattered variants are housed in sanctuaries for their well-being, while domesticated ones receive special care and medications from their human companions.
