Morden Eté Averill, son of Lord Averill, was born into Greywall royalty. An ambitious young aristocrat with no respect for others or the law, Morden grew to enjoy the arts of alchemy. His father was a very influential lord of the time, and friend to King Basewin. He soon became an apprentice to old Gavin Yule, the King’s royal inventor and alchemist. In the bellows of Greywall Castle he toiled in chemical work with Yule.

When Morden was thirteen, he and other friends attended a royal feast in the name of Greywall’s foundation many years ago. At this banquet, both King Basewin and Morden’s father and a few other lords were assassinated by arrows shot by nearby rooftops. Morden tried to run after the culprits, but they evaded even the guards of Greywall.

Morden decided to run a chemical test on the arrows after noticing the nonlethal points of contact. Turns out the arrows were laced with Wyvern Poison. Only one other person with links to the King would have access to that expensive material, much less know how to use such an exotic essence. Gavin Yule. He confronted Gavin, who denied any evidence supporting his hiring of assassins to administer his deadly exotic poison to the King. Gavin stated that someone had framed him for the horrific deed, but Morden, still wrathful from his father’s death, saw no mercy.

Gavin Yule escaped captivity before his execution day, and this didn’t help Morden’s current vengeful state. The loss of most of the council members, his father and the King completely plunged Greywall and its aristocrats into a political and economic depression. Morden stayed awake at nights, trying to predict Gavin’s movements. Sadly, Gavin had covered his tracks expertly, leading Morden to believe that he was indeed the assassin.

A few years later, Morden fell under the rule of King Tannenbay II, a young lord from the south who inherited the throne after the Greywall Palace Massacre. He was a nice lad, but with little backbone, the once flourishing city came to a stalemate of disease and ruin.

Morden continued to work with his herbs and poisons in Greywall until one fateful night. While living peacefully as a botanist and researcher, he had married a beautiful woman named Aelynn Talia Basewin, a high elf adept in the art of magic. They lived peaceful in a grand observatory in Greywall, and everything was perfect, despite the despair spread around the city. Morden invented air cleansers and incense herbs that sanitized and purified the air, making quite a profit off of it.

When Morden was working with some hazardous materials, scribbling furiously on his notes in his glass “thinking” observatory overlooking the rough city. He noticed that some of his calculations had been tampered with, but alas, too late. Suddenly, a massive explosion snapped Morden’s neck, shattering all of his windows and rumbling the city. From that point on, he lost everything. He lost his research. His life. His Aelynn.

From that point on, he became the Harbinger of Death, Rebirth and Fire.
