Profile

Hellbolds are kobolds with an unknown home realm. In ancient times they were banished to a dungeon full of flames. Despite not being resistant to fire, hellbolds have thrived in their new home. Instead of dwelling in common places of hospitality, hellbolds live in great bastions made to withstand the dangers of the hellscape they call home.

The few historical records hellbolds have speak of an ancient lich that bound them all to the nether and cursed blue flames. Leaving causes them to be weakened at best, and less fortunate hellbolds become something different. Hellbolds that have found a way to leave the dungeon tend to be very sensitive to cool temperatures.

Instead of manipulating fire, hellbolds manipulate gold. They conjure crossbows made of thick, liquid (think mercury) gold to strike down foes at range. Their society values gold greatly since it can be quite effective when fighting the nightmarish creatures they share a home with. They're exponentially more friendly if you're viably wearing/holding something made of gold since the monsters they're used to dealing with can't.

Character creation notes
- Hellbolds have cat-like faces. Their fur patterns tend to have fur patterns resembling the 7 deadly sins (felines for pride, snakes for envy, butterflies for lust, canines for wrath, fish for sloth, gemstones for greed, and moths for gluttony.)
- They have short horns that are typically 7 inches or shorter.
- They're always pleasantly warm.
- They tend to have a sibling rivalry style dynamic with elysibold kobolds
- Their heart is gold colored
- Their quills aren't really quills. They just have fur that looks spiky. They do have a few actual spines on their tails though.

LitRPG Themed Skills:
- [Molten Gold heart: Whenever a hellbold uses a shiny magic* skill They recover hp equal to their level, and any allies within 5 feet of them do the same. This skill can only be used if a tier 1 kobold creature class is active.]
- Goldcraft: A hellbold can use shiny magic to create gold.
- Invisibility: Like most kobolds, hellbolds kobolds can expend some of their mana to turn invisible. The invisibility wears off if they are injured, come into contact with another creature, make too much noise, or use magic.
- Glistening Crossbow : Hellbolds can conjure a crossbow made out of semi-liquid gold. It functions the same way a normal crossbow would, but it dissipates within an hour. Attacks made with the sword deal physical, nonelemental damage and critical attacks inflict deal extra damage to dungeon monsters.
- Metallic Wall: A hellbold can conjure a temporary wall made out of metal. The wall dissipates after 1 minute unless more mana is expended to sustain it.
- Shiny magic affinity: Hellbold kobolds have a natural affinity for shiny magic. This allows them to freely control metal, using shiny skills consumes slightly less mana, and they are resistant to harmful effects from wild shiny magic.
- Shimmering Slice: Hellbold kobolds can infuse a weapon or body part with their innate shiny mana to make an attack that deals physical shiny damage to 1 target within melee range.
- Shiny Shot: Hellbold kobolds can create an arrow with their shiny magic to attack foes with shiny magic from a safe distance. If the hellbold is using their glistening crossbow the attack deals extra damage equal to half of their level (rounded down to a minimum of 1) to dungeon monsters.
*Shiny magic = ferrokinesis

Hellbold kobolds are an open species I'll be releasing into creative commons after I finish their full ref (I'll be using cc by 4.0). Until then feel free to make as many as you want and do with them as you please (as long as you credit me for the species). Designs that follow WoS lore might be eligible for some goodies in the future.
