Ametrine

Ametrine is a medical gem that serves under White Diamond. Gems being gems, Ametrines are typically sort of a militarized version of a nurse: she is more of a knight/bodyguard/combat medic than your average nurse you’d find on Earth. This particular Ametrine works in a rehab/reconditioning unit on Homeworld.

Ametrine doesn’t have any direct healing abilities like Rose Quartz/Steven did/does, but does have extensive knowledge of gem physicality that can go a long way toward helping gems WITH healing powers be as effective as possible. Ametrines in general are made for morale above all, so she's great at cultivating an air of confidence and fighting spirit for those around her. Given the demonstrated effect of a gem's mental/emotional state on her physical form, this can be vital for injured or recovering gems, or when spirits get too low. 

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

• Pinkish-purple body
• Purple hair
• Orange eyes
• Gem located on lower back
• Lots of "A" shapes, including triangular hood-shaped hair
• About the height of a Pearl

PERSONALITY

• Great at motivational speaking!
• Kind of off-kilter and likes to fight with little provocation
• Sometimes optimistic when it's not totally appropriate
• Cocky, and prone to getting herself (and others) into trouble for the sake of showing off

TRIVIA/DESIGN NOTES

• Ametrine's design came about when someone on Tumblr asked me if I could explain my process for designing fan gems.

• Back when I designed Ametrine, none of the diamonds had made an appearance in the show yet, much less had we seen a glimpse of Homeworld itself, so I guessed (correctly!) that White Diamond was in charge of Homeworld, so that's why Ametrine serves White. I liked imagining what kind of infrastructure Homeworld might have! We still haven't seen much of the place at the time of this writing, so I'm eager to find out if we'll get to learn more about what Homeworld gems do.
• I guess I imagined her role as being kind of a cross between a Jasper and a Pearl? Ametrine basically functions as ‘slice-n-dice barbie’ with a disposition to match.
