The Norna

Urðr, meaning "what has happend" 

Verðandi, meaning "to become/ to happen/ -ing"

Skuld, meaning "Should"

Urðr tells What has happened, Verðandi tells what is happening, and Skuld tells what ought to happen

Norn     Norna(plural)

There is nothing known about how the Norna came to be. They appeared when Yggdrasil came to existence, along with the other celestial creatures that live along side them.

The Norna spend their days at Urðarbrunnr (Urðrs well), along with two swans to keep them company.

They use the water from the well to water the tree's roots, keeping it alive till Ragnarok comes.

The Norna only truly plan out the birth and death of the subject. Each being has a set death date, no matter what. Every action that being chooses is up to them. Similar to being dealt a hand of cards or karmic forces, your actions have consequences, each consequence will eventually end to your death. It is up to the subject what they do before death.

The woman carve out the destinies into Yggdrasils trunk. Over time the carvings can change depending on the subjects actions.

Each realms inhabitants believe that the Norna are the race they are. Elves see them to be of elven origin, Aesir believe them to be of Aesir origin, and ect. But, the Norna true identity is fully unknown.
