- born in yanxia to the first king of doma and a deity that he had met many many years ago when doma had just been founded; more than 300 years ago
- bloodline connected to the first king of doma, ganen rijin
- parents loved him as a baby but the kingdom was tumultuous and when ganen was about to be overthrown, he bid the deity to protect their child
- the deity hid him in prism lake where they were the protector of and was slain keeping watch over him
- spent many years eepin in prism lake, hidden from the world, steeped in the magic from seiryu's scales that had fallen into the water when he flew over the land
- 25 years ago, was stolen by Gekkai and Karasu - Garlean defected ninjas who had heard about the legends of a sleeping deity and wanted to trade aidi to the garleans to gather favour and advance their standing and rank
- the empire lied, obviously, so they were stuck with an innocent half deity, half ascended human baby +??% of oversteeped auspices dragon scale water that they knew nothing truly about
- this was around 25 years ago right before the conquering of doma
- aidi was dropped off in kugane on the doorstep of the Lord bugyo at the time and brought up as their own
- the shinobi that captured him were well reknowned traditional shinobi to their supposed clans and hadn't been outed as garlean converts, so they could not give away their positions and plans and watched over aidi from the shadows as he grew up
- the lord bugyo consulted a geomancer about aidi's future and they kind of found out about his deity status?! (but not the full scope of it, bc. deity things. u know how it is. but smth abt how he was definitely tied to the gods and had unfathomable power)
- father panicked and in hopes that aidi wouldn't become more of a target than he already was because of his status, he bid the geomancer to seal away all and any of aidi's powers
- they have a jewel embedded in their forehead that acts as a limiter and cannot be taken off by normal means although aidi has never tried since he thinks it was a precious childhood gift from his father
- grew up forced into typical female roles; trained for a few years to be a geiko, learning how to sing, dance (traditional Doman dance), write poetry and calligraphy
- was complete balls at all of it 😭 maybe BC of the sealing of their powers? who's to say
- once they threw a fit and came out as trans though, their parents switched gears and in an effort to accept their son, put him to work in learning combat
- he tried training with the shinsengumi with katanas and lances, they even tried war axes and concealed blades to no avail..........
- so they're kind of a noble equivalent of a neet ????
- always followed around by at least two shinsengumi hand picked by his father himself
- for his "25th" birthday and "coming of age ceremony", their families' heirs are required to go on a journey as a way to symbolize ~growing up~
- instead of choosing to go to the ruby sea or maybe even as far as yanxia, aidi chose to go to eorzea (journey to the east and all that)
- his parents and especially his father were stricken by the thought but aidi is unbearably stubborn and wouldn't take no for an answer
- spent the long long boat ride to eorzea seasick :)))))
- while savouring the feeling of being back on solid land, aidi gets catcalled by fabel and aidi is unfortunately smitten (by his dick)
- they have hot nasty filthy marathon sex for like 12 hours
- go on their separate ways
- starts ARR in limsa lominsa with nothing but the (very good quality) clothes on his back, an (expensive) bag of essentials and his two shinsengumi who were expressly told not to interfere with aidi's journey as best they could
- decides to start as an arcanist BC surely reading books won't be too hard
- alas
- he sleeps through every single lesson and doesn't read shit but somehow ends up being incredible with the actual magic part????
- natural affinity w magic... he says that he just Feels the magic
- he is still complete ass with anything physical
- good fucking luck getting him to tank anything with those scrawny noodle arms
- makes it to sastasha and aidi sends his shinsengumi in instead of himself and is waiting around (for a few days atp...) when lo and behold: fabel, the big dick

- travels to ul'dah on the airship and is jumped by thieves as he gets off because he looks expensive and naive (which. he is on both counts 😔)
- his shinsengumi jump in and attempt to protect him but they're knocked out and he's whisked away to keep him quiet 😭 loud mouth ass
