Story
I. Past
Whysaphine Khrysar was born an illegitimate daughter to King Eiliberos Khrysar, and later became the older half-sister of the crown prince Keadithas Khrysar. Not wanting Whysaphine to tarnish his name any further, he set about to shaping her into the perfect, obedient noblewoman from a very young age. She very quickly grew to resent him and sought to seize control for herself. She developed a talent for enchantment magic, learning to bend those around her to her whims. In doing so, she discovered a fascination with people and seeing the true selves they keep hidden. She continued to hone her magic over time and eventually took up formal magic research.
Seeds of Affection
After encountering noblewoman and fellow researcher Thehosis Luralald for the first time, Whysaphine quickly took notice of Thehosis' attraction to her and wanted to find out how much pushing it would to for her to reveal it. The two became colleagues and Whysaphine found entertainment in a cruel game of dangling affection in front of her until Thehosis' emotions reached a breaking point. They entered a relationship in secret and continued to work together for years, developing a fervent mutual obsession. Thehosis eventually learned that she was betrothed to the crown prince, Whysaphine's brother, and tried to distance herself from Whysaphine for the sake of the engagement. Whysaphine sought to break off the engagement by speaking to her father. When that failed, she took a dagger to Thehosis' hair, destroying her symbol of status within elven society. When confronted by her, Whysaphine learned the true depth of Thehosis' feelings for her, but drove her away all the same.
II. Present
After receiving word from a colleague of a magical artifact of a magical artifact discovered on Onyx Mountain, Whysaphine sets off to find it with a party made up of her, Thehosis, Torram, and Raiki. The four of them discover the Fey Tiara, an artifact rumored to have been left behind when the gate between their plane of existence and the Feywild closed thousands of years ago. Whysaphine takes the tiara to study and discovers that it holds the potential to reveal the long-hidden Feywild Gate and open the path between the two planes once more. She begins to hear the voice of a fairy named Chanterelle, who has discovered the missing "crown jewel" of the Fey Tiara. The two begin to develop a plan to open the Feywild Gate by draining the wild magic keeping it sealed.
Fey Princess Reborn
As the influence of the tiara sinks deeper and deeper into her mind, Whysaphine releases its power, calling five adventurers with latent wild magic potential, allowing them to store large amounts of wild magic within them, away from their lives and into the depths of the Deepwoods, where the Feywild Gate dwells. Though she fears the tiara may have only sent them to their deaths, she sets out to the town of Verafield with Torram and Raiki in the hopes of finding them alive and primed for opening the gate. Before she leaves, a woman named Daenala Aspenheel contacts her and asks to be sponsored for an investigation of the fungi within the Deepwoods. She accepts, thinking this Daenala may too have some untapped wild magic potential calling her there.
