Carmilla is a well known figure in the lower level of the Overcast City. A mechanic and inventor of considerable skill and creativity, she has dedicated her work to the cause of accessibility. She's been gradually renovating the lower levels to make life easier for disabled people, alongside creating prosthetics and other valuable equipment within her home workshop (wheelchairs, crutches, etc). This is all done on her own time and with her own resources, so Carmilla's progress isn't nearly at the level she wishes it was. Still, countless people hold her in high regard for her work. She's been trying to push for a similar movement in the upper city, but so far, her efforts have proven fruitless. The arrival of a duo from the distant lands has her involved in business she never could have imagined, something sinister and all-reaching that will have consequences for the only home she's ever known.

Carmilla is, unsurprisingly, a rather ambitious woman with ideas that can sometimes be too grand-for example, her desire to renovate the upper city despite her current lifelong project. She's a problem solver at heart, and puts every ounce of effort and focus into whatever task is at hand, but this can end up putting too much weight upon her shoulders. She's quick to think and quick to speak, sometimes letting all of her thoughts tumble out into her words. Carmilla can't stand to sit around doing nothing; she's always on the move, always keeping her hands busy, always thinking of the next thing. She rarely stops to simply enjoy the view. This has caused some strain within her family, despite her boundless love for them, as both her wife and son are far more interested in taking life slow. She's been trying to force herself to spend a lot more time with them, but the weight of her own expectations has been distracting her. All Carmilla can think of is how people are relying on her, how she is trying to do a good thing with very little help, and to strike a balance between it with her home life is not happening easily.
