Khar'rel was found as a child on the doorstep of Yara and Cain, a retired adventuring couple and respective cleric and paladin of the true neutral deities of Hei and Sei. as followers of these deities, Yara and Cain held a strong passion for knowledge and philosophy, leading Khar'rel to become an inquisitive and bookish child.
Khar'rel grew up on the couple's farm, where he had a quiet and comfortable childhood until he started to discover his abilities as a sorcerer. Having a newfound determination to uncover the mystery of his family and the source of his magic, he left the farm to travel and learn more about his demonic heritage.
Though khar’rel is unaware of the identity of his birth parents, he is identified as (and was raised by) a homebrew tiefling ethnic group I made alled the Dhu’kan. I base cultural elements and ethnic traits off of Hmong and Vietnamese culture. For all intents and purposes, Khar’rel is Asian (Hmong/Vietnamese).

Yotul Shalur [ khar'rel's responsibility ]
A convict who was serving time in the Angomel (Anglushe military) as an indentured soldier, up until Khar'rel and his party fought him and got him to surrender. Khar'rel and Yotul's relationship was built on the premise that Khar'rel is actually one of the few people who can communicate with Yotul, since he doesn't know any Common. They've come a long way, as Khar'rel is currently searching for a way to break the pact between Yotul and the demon lord Aezova. Art by hongslice.
Cola Quco [ colleague ]
A fetchling gunslinger that Khar'rel has a poor relationship with, by virtue of Cola being Lawful Good and Khar'rel doing what he wants. Khar'rel has begun to feel a little guilty about how he's treated Cola, but his pride and conflicting personality gets in the way of genuine friendship between them. Art by hongslice.
Yelena Omel [ colleague ]
The human fighter of Khar'rel's party. They haven't really developed a line of conversation, though Khar'rel was a direct reason Yelena has gotten stabbed by Yotul. Khar'rel has no strong opinions about her, except that she does seem a little helpless. Her illiteracy doesn't help Khar'rel's perception of her. Art by hongslice.
Yivaza [ colleague ]
The aasimar bard of Khar'rel's party. They unnerve Khar'rel by being absolutely inconprehensible to him. Despite this, Yivaza is probably the party member Khar'rel feels closest to, since they've spent a lot of time together out of coincidence. He both values Yivaza's opinion and thinks their disconnect from everything around them makes them cool, but also distrusts Yivaza greatly. He dislikes their association with Amatiel, an (ex-?) antagonist who at one point kidnapped both Yivaza and Khar'rel. Art by hongslice.
Peony Bautista [ colleague ]
The elven bard of Khar'rel's party. Peony joined later on, and Khar'rel had a mild opinion of him (similar to Yelena) up until recently, when Peony let it slip that his accent was fake. Khar'rel pounced on this and mocked him mercilessly for what seems to be no apparent reason, other than that Khar'rel has the tendency for pettiness and cruelty. Art by Zeus.
