Profile

Jean-Claude was born and raised in a small farming village not far from Paris. He had a modest life, but he longed for something a bit more… glamorous. He envied the fashions of the wealthy, and the easy lifestyle they had. So much so, that he opted to risk life and limb to steal those beautiful things for himself.

He moved to Paris as a young man, pickpocketing unsuspecting victims first, then sneaking into increasingly high class homes and estates to grab whatever he could reasonably steal away into the darkness. He was quite good at it too, and bold. Though he didn’t kill anyone who caught him unless he had no other option (a rare situation for him to be in), he found a thrill in swordplay, flourishing his cutlass with every battle won.

He earned the Assassin’s attention when he successfully stole something dearly important to the Templars. They tracked him down and took him hostage, but when he produced the stolen object, they praised him for his deft hands and clever wit. He was invited to work as an agent of the Assassins for a few years. He didn’t take many assassination contracts until the Revolution.

He owns many businesses across Paris - investing his stolen wealth into more honest avenues. Some of the profits go toward his Brotherhood’s efforts, though he often spends a luxurious amount on his own attire and the gear of his club. He is most fond of the Cafe-Theatre, where he spends quite a bit of time.

He’s prone to acts of heroism - tackling pickpockets who target the poor, stopping the Templar extremists who target innocent passersby, and giving money to beggars. He operates under the stage name of “The Red Phantom”; he was always fond of theatrics, even if he never tried his hand at stage acting.
